I played the quest and thought the voice was great. The character sounds excited to be going on an adventure.

Also Tural is a fictional place so saying they must should have type of accent based on real world doesn't even make sense. We do not know what the people of Tural sound like because so far there is only 1 character in the game from there.

She apparently grew up with erenville and he sounds nothing like a south American. I saw someone say Icelandic? So... Yeah...

Based on these threads, I initially felt dread during Quest 1 where I found the actor to do a bad job. However, the quality of the acting improved during the 2nd and 3rd quests - maybe they got more comfortable with the role. Character is likable enough despite some mary sue moments that felt a bit forced. I'll keep an open mind but this is as much on the writers as the actor.

I don't see a problem with the voice. It fits perfectly and I like it.

The people saying "poor voice acting" have probably not heard poor voice acting before like I have. I watched some Star Trek fan films once and they were just emotionless, reading slowly from a script and it was hard to watch. That was when I realized all the actors I see professionally hired on TV are actually very good. It's no different here. The actors SE hires are very good at what they do.

I watched some Star Trek fan films once and they were just emotionless, reading slowly from a script and it was hard to watch. That was when I realized all the actors I see professionally hired on TV are actually very good. It's no different here. The actors SE hires are very good at what they do.

Even so, the existence of 1/10 VAs does not make a 4/10 VA "very good".

Let me preface this by saying I do not speak spanish (ok a few words picked up here or there from living in Texas). I have however heard many native Spanish speakers from many parts of the world speak English. Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Brazilians, Hondurans, Spaniards, Cubans and I am sure many more. I have heard enough to know there is no one Spanish accent. They are all distinct.

I had to hunt down video of the Voice Acting in question as I am not to that part of the story line yet. Just my opinion here. It didn't sound like any of the Spanish accents I have ever heard. I can't quite put my finger on what it did sound like but not Spanish.

Now to be fair. I generally don't expect much from gaming Voice acting. I am pretty good at suspension of disbelief. It is a fictional world with fictional characters of fictional nationalities that might loosely be based on real world ones. I tend not to get too bent out of shape when things don't match up. In fact this particular Voice acting might be easier for me to accept because it doesn't sound like anything real.

Agreed. It's time for Square Enix to lay off their Broadway/West End voice actors for cheaper talent from Twitter since it's just as good. The company can use the savings to lower our sub fee or make more content. How does that sound?

What makes you think that? There's been a number of games where the voice acting has been of dubious quality and ridiculed and/or deemed immersion breaking.

The early Resident Evil games were notorious for that and many people posting here regularly play other games. Though you can look at many modern games and see that if a particular bit of voice acting isn't the best and has strange delivery then it stands a good chance of being discussed as an issue.

The thread is twenty two pages long because the forum is being used for its intended purpose - discussion and feedback. What is a non-issue to a particular player or group of players is not necessarily a non-issue for others.

I do not raid these days so I do not care much for raiding, though I do care about immersion and consistency when it comes to storytelling and characters - which is just as much about the audio cues as much as the text itself. You're not obligated to consider such things to be a priority but there's enough people saying otherwise to make it clear that it's a credible concern for those who do.

Trying to minimize my opinion because he doesn't think I don't know a bad voice performance when I hear one. Smh...
