Absolutely no more new races please

I could go through 8.0 with no new races, but there's still several races that could be mined from the rest of the series and added eventually. Burmecians are my favorite choice, but there's also the various races in Crystal Chronicles and Tactics they could pull from.

ngl I would like to see one thing if they did decide to bring in a new race and that thing is specifically biracial folx. Like if I want to play a viera/miqo'te offspring or an elezen/hyur, I think that kind of system would be neat and something no real MMO has really done. In fact it would work for a lot of people's backstories for their WoL, like mine is she was born to a viera mother that travelled throughout the world and a Ala Mhigan Miqo'te scholar, being able to reflect that in the game would actually be really cool.

If they were to add new races, I'd like to see Shumi or Moomba, Burmecians or maybe one of the beast tribes like Matanga or Omicrons.
But before they do that, they definately need to put a LOT more stuff in for the existing races.

Which would be perfectly fine, considering they couldn't even find the time to adjust hats for Hroth and Viera, having a whole new race with 2 genders to adjust gear for, especially with the new graphics overhaul they have to tune as well, I don't see any new races happening before 8.0 if ever

New races have always been the most exciting part of MMOs to me (even if I never played them myself until like 4 years ago) and I've never particularly cared about hats, I like being able to see my character's face, so I was disappointed when they declared female Hrothgar would be the last. I don't expect it'll happen anytime soon, but I'm personally glad they changed their stance on that

Female Hrothgar are technically a new race. Because there is no difference for having a new gender for an existing races or introducing a new race. In both cases, there is a new character model, you have to adjust all dresses to it etc. And the technology does not stand still. If they implement a physics engine into the game engine then those adjustments for new character models will become way easier etc.

They made a vague claim of "it's up to us" if there'd be more races, which I assume just means they'll think about it if demand is high enough.

So this is basically going to be there will be a new race either in post-DT or 8.0 because the fanbase is always wanting new races. The only time I haven't seen demand for a new race in an MMO was probably ESO and even then I'm sure there are people who want maormer, reachmen or ayleids to be playable.

Which is pretty much the entire reason I made this thread.

Let's be real, Square/Yoshi are smart enough to be aware of this. They're not going to turn down the opportunity to use one of their biggest hype generators for a new expansion, especially when most of the playerbase will blindly support it, even if it could possibly result in a decline in quality elsewhere.
