This might be the most divisive race reveal in FFXIV. Good luck to you all.

To be fair, it was just as bad for the bun boys. People wanted them either strong and muscly, or small and cute.
The difference is that for both there was at least 1 option, like Highlander for the strong camp and the Miquo'te for small and cute.
But for female Hrothgar, there is the Miquo'te 3.0 or Female Beast. And unlike with male Viera, the Miquo'te camp has 3 options (Miquo'te, Au'Ra, Midlander), while the female Beast has none.

Hey guys! Question! Do you have any thoughts on the upcoming naming convention? There has been quite a bit of talk since we entered Bozja about whether the "Misija" name was originally from Hrothgar folklore, or a local one that suited the majority... I also wonder if the surnames of men and women will be fundamentally different. After all, we still do not know whether there were any exceptional ways for the queen and her maids. Or do we?
Did you choose a name for yours? What does it mean? :>
I'm still apprehensive. It annoys me we've not even been given a teaser on what their face looks like (just Ms. Legsfordays) and while I'm sure Yoshi-P has told the team how they should look (and we've seen rejected concept art of male Hrothgars stating it looked like a Miqo'te, despite still having a cat face), I'm just... apprehensive. I really hope they look like they're of the Hrothgar race and not the usual trope I hate more than anything.
Really hope it won't be this.
I understand this feeling quite well. I want my character to look decent, and not like a parody. But I believe in the development team... and in the experience of past years. In the end, deeply doubt that creating a walking fetish with conventionally cat-like features is what the designers have been going for for so long. Still, sharing your excitement. Believe in the best and do what we can, right? *laughs*
But speaking of designs... does anyone know if Karmaho is still publishing? Haven't been able to find any of the old tweets, and it's making me worried...
I would have originally said that might be the case. But, due to the other Roe NPCs in Bozja who keep their Roegadyn names (Like Merlzirn), it is probably just to foreshadow that something ain't quite right with Misija. The funny thing is, you can notice that if you are accustomed to Roegadyn naming conventions, which is very neat!Hey guys! Question! Do you have any thoughts on the upcoming naming convention? I am not sure about the naming conventions for the females, we know of a few (Like the ones in the CC for the males), just remove the "A" at the beginning for the Helions or the "sch" at the end for the Lost. Like "Amira" would be the surname of a male Hrothgar who is part of the court of Queen Mira.
If however, Queen Mira was to die, then all of the Hrothgar under her rule would change their name to Mirasch. The difference between the clans is just who's mom's alive.
For me, my character has 2 names. The first being the name given by her mother, the second is the nickname her mentor gave her. My character, after failing to protect Bozja and its people from the "Bozjan Incident" was thrown into the lifestream by her mentor in an off chance that the spell would just teleport her elsewhere, instead, she was swept in the lifestream and only got pulled out by Louisoux's spell to place her at the entrance of Gridania. When asked by Mother Mioune, to write her name and not a silly nickname, she instead wished to write the nickname her mentor, who gave her life to save her, had given her a long time ago. She doesn't feel worthy of her original name but also wants to honour her mentor's memory as much as she can. So when Mioune notices that it sounds more like a nickname asks again, but then leaves the subject alone.
Out of character, I just like this name and don't feel like changing it. Queen Pip for the win!

Sadly not anymore. There were a lot of people stealing their artwork and reposting it without merit, so they deleted their entire online work. This saddens me a lot since their interpretations were the most amazing ones of the bunch! Hopefully, they will come back stronger than ever. But I would not bet on it.

I did a write-up on Hrothgar naming conventions a few months ago.
Don't worry, SE isn't known for their business decisions, hrothgar is going to keep being a race no one plays.I'm still apprehensive. I'm just so curious to see if they're going to try to play the thirst card at all with the femroths. Japanese media generally has a hard time portraying females as anything BUT stereotypically attractive/cute, so this will be really interesting to see. Either way, a group will be happy with the result and another group won't be.
