Have to be honest here. If you need rewards to even do the content. Then it's not for you. Criterion is supposed to be harder content for people who want a challenge.
I mean, next ppl gonna whine that ultimates only give a weapon and nothing else

That's the purpose of the challenge is it not? You complete the hard content; you get title and super unique weapon for completing said content. In exchange, you have to prog the fight for substantial amount of time. It requires work, but there is a reward.
If Criterions are supposed to be the middle ground between Extremes and Savage raids, which both give rewards and require work, why should Criterion not when it also requires work?

Variant is supposed to be casual content for people who want to relax, so there should be no rewards in there. Same with Ishgard Restoration and Island Sanctuary. I think hanging out with friends and taking a break from IRL is reward enough.![]()

Damn do I have to return my Epic Hero title? I cant believe the content I've run more than anyone else I've met in the game isn't for me.
All the gil I've farmed from it due to how hilariously unpopular it is....
Remove every reward from the game.
Would you still play the game?
Are there other games you play where you don't get any rewards?
If we're being honest, it's the rewards that draw most players into content these days. They're used to being rewarded for doing things (and that extends likely back to before they were even playing online games). People want to feel like they're getting something for their time and effort.
It's partially the fault of the online gaming industry for latching onto Skinner box techniques but it's also a reflection of how first world society as a whole has gradually changed over the last 80 years. Once upon a time, we made up our own games and didn't seek any rewards for playing them other than having fun with our friends. Now if we don't like the rewards we don't want to do it even with our friends.
Good thing you don't have to. There are plenty of great glamour options available through game play.

Yeah but I'm still going to call out shit when I see it, when people are saying content is unrewarding, but the mogstation gets frequent updates, something is inherently wrong.
I might disagree with some complaints, but I can respect this. I've bought a couple of things from the cash shop but it's disappointing to see them throwing really nice fantasy outfits on there. I don't think the comparison to criterion dungeons was needed though, that's content that's always going to be niche, just release cool outfits for all players of all content.
God forbid people want horizontal progression in their video game.
You don't get to decide when a game is for someone or not just because you play games differently. You are not an authority on anything and nobody has to abide by your arrogant, exclusionary standards.

You realize your character is currently wearing a couple of pieces of overpriced mogstore glam, right? Don't really think you can be calling someone out for saying a lot of mogstore glam looks better than in-game releases.
Don't think you understand how multiplayer games work. You need multiple people for a run.
Some people are motivated by the experience alone. A lot of people aren't, and you have to understand that. Players that are motivated by experience alone need other players to go into content with, and they would not have nearly as large of a pool of players if there weren't other incentives.
Ultimates don't just give a shiny weapon. They give a title, and although a lot of the community regards the titles as a joke, for many people it feeds their egos. These people are important for filling in parties.
Crit/Crit Savage tries to appeal to the same community. You've got shiny weapons, and a mount for regular crit, but only a handful of people are doing it. There's definitely a reason.
Meanwhile quality content that could go towards getting players into content goes onto the mogstore. Might be a poor connection on other peoples parts, but it's understandable that people are upset.

And we've reached the point of attacking each other for wearing cashshop glam. Truly the best mmo community
