On the less gloomy side, maybe house rebuying project is perfect opportunity to clean inventories.
I lost my house, too. Well, it wasn't technically my house, but it technically was. My RL friend bought it back in 2.X and started a FC with his brother without me knowing. I got invited to it. Years go by, my friend and his brother go inactive/unsubscribe, and the game gives me ownership of the house and leadership of the FC. I did a pretty darn good job at keeping up on cancelling auto demolition, right up until last month ><.
So now I'm gonna try and make up for the loss by buying a mansion... in Empyreum.
My goal is to save up enough money to get one by Dawntrail's release. Huzzah!
Three Ilm Knights, One Thousand Malm Road
Did you had a retainer bell, NPC mender & merchant before?Well, it looks like I lost my house despite visiting it often enough to keep it. I was vigilant enough for years to keep my house, but the game didn’t care. Anyway, my stuff is at the resident caretaker and I don’t have enough free space to get everything back. Am I just going to lose all of my housing collection?
Usually you’d have at least engage on either of them.
Entering house unfortunately doesn’t do it.
I can confirm that interacting with stuff doesn't seem necessary. I've been just walking in and out for months and it's been fine, never click anything other then the door.
Yes it does, I have multiple houses I cancel auto demo on every month and all I have to do is enter the house and it cancels it.
Stop fear mongering and spreading misinformation
I love how Stormpeaks has been going through this thread taking shots at people who have had a problem with entering their house not resetting the demo timer when Stormpeaks reported having that same problem themselves back in July.

I've witnessed the same thing happening for 2 friends where one of my alts was a tenant and caught the still pending demolition in the Timers.
There is a bug of some sort. It does not happen consistently or according to any pattern that can be determined from the infrequent player reports in the forums but it is very obvious that something is happening. It could be something like the timer was reset on entry but main housing server fails to upload that information correctly to a master database on occasion so there's no lasting record the entry had occurred.
It gets noticed primarily by players who enter their houses infrequently, which makes sense. Those who enter frequently might also be affected by the bug at some point but will not know because a subsequent entry to the house reset the timer before it reached 15 days left.
But how often are you doing it? Once a month? A week? A day?
I have yet to have the problem myself but then I'm in and out of my house daily if not a few times a day. On the other hand, I have seen it happen to friends as I mention above.
In other discussions, it's been suggested that the pending demolition notice gets displayed differently so players are more likely to be aware that their house is up for demolition. I think a better idea is for the demolition notice in Timers be changed so that if the player owns a house and/or is in a FC that owns a house, an entry appears for when the demolition timer for the house was last reset. With more players being able to see the demolition reset information, there's a better chance of finding what is causing the bug and getting it fixed.
The problem with auto demo is emails not being sent out sometimes and that is an issue 100%, that's also why as I mentioned on my post I prefer to use an excel to keep track.I love how Stormpeaks has been going through this thread taking shots at people who have had a problem with entering their house not resetting the demo timer when Stormpeaks reported having that same problem themselves back in July.

As for the content of my post itself, I really don't remember what happened as the post is pretty old-ish but I still do not believe there is a bug with auto demo itself, what i do think though is that in particular when you multiown, it's easy to skip a house or log in on the character and then not go inside the house by mistake and going on to the next char, there's a lot of factors that have an impact including my own actions.
What SE should fix though is the auto demo emails because I am certain they don't get sent off half the time, that's why every 14 days I log on each character, go inside the house and look at the Timers tab.

Man this ain't even the first time I've heard this. NGL if my house just blew up tomorrow I'd unsub asap and be low key glad to lose the anchor.
also this thread's so weird lol. if there's a bug affecting some people rarely, maybe just let people bring it up and then let square look into it? what's the point in being like "it isn't real because it never affected me!!!" like ok bro lol
