Island Sanctuary is being discontinued?

I'm pretty sure they said there will be a new lifestyle content to replace it. Instead of more Island Sanctuary we'll probably get 'New-World Homestead' or something and it'll be covered in mammets and probably just be the exact same thing with a different coat of paint.

Yup. I really hope they do a better job with whatever the new thing is because Island Sanctuary kinda sucks.

It'll still exist, but yeah outside of some extremely optimistic thinking they're basically abandoning further development of it in 7.0 as alluded to in some Q&A session, can't keep track of them all.
Saddest part is it really looked like they were laying the groundwork for genuine instanced housing. We got an enormous instanced front yard. There were housing frameworks in the system. And then they just stopped, lmao.

I can't believe this hasn't happened. SE outside of 14 has a very heavy micro transaction hand. The could increase the number of items from a large and call it premium housing. Or give it some sort of extra item storage like FC chests. And truthfully they know the players or a decent minority will defend it like 30+ mounts. "It's optional" or "They have to pay bills" or "They need to make money"


I saw some data mining that showed housing on the island. So they could have been testing some things but it never panned out. Or islands are like squadrons, something to test a theory but not the end goal.

At least then, they would reveal their motivations. With the system how it is now, there is an argument that there absolutely needs to be a demo system, otherwise new players would never get a house.

I am convinced that the number of players who stay subbed just because of a useless pixel house is a small minority and it is immaterial when it comes to revenue. Definitely not the “cash cow” some people want to make believe.

When I tire of this game I won’t give a damn of what happens to my houses. I have already let go 2/4 (one personal and 1 fc). They demolish because of the stupid finite system that they have so new and active players have a chance at getting one.

You make it sound like people only play the game for housing. Safe to say that wouldn't be correct.

Housing is fun for me but not worth the cost of the subscription if I didn't enjoy other parts of the game as well. If all I cared about was housing, I'd still be playing RIFT.

I expect it to get occasionally something new thing to buy. But otherwise it is on maintenance mode. After all, people play palace of the dead, and the only new update it gets is new weapons from new jobs.
