At the risk of sounding like a dev simp, you nor me have the right to tell or force a develpor NOT pursue other projects for both expanding their portfolio and creativity in the gaming field.

Thats their decision and if Yoshida wants to divert his attention to newer material thats completely fine and as a consumer Im interested to see what him and other staff in the team can come up in the future.

All I care about is that FFXIV is still properly maintained and while I can still pin responsibility on him as he is the current director Im also blaming the new blood in the team to failing to meet expectactions. Its not even much for me personally, I just want the game to be above average and currently its just....average.

I was ready to agree with you until the part that I bolded. If you're in a position of authority over subordinates and they're not doing good work, that's on you. Even in the scenarios where you could consider the subordinates to be at-fault (meaning they are unskilled or simply not doing the work) responsibility ultimately goes to management, because when such problems are noticed — and they should be noticed, because an effective producer is measuring progress — it's management's job to solve them. Whether that means training up these employees, adjusting the schedule to accommodate the unexpected reality of a lower velocity, or simply firing these employees because they aren't able to do their jobs as needed, the responsibility for addressing these problems is a manager's duty. And if that manager has a superior, it's that superior's duty to make sure that their subordinate addresses the issue. And so on and so forth until you reach the top of the food chain where the most responsible person lies.

In short, if your subordinates are doing a meaningfully bad job and you have the authority to do something about that but don't, you are doing a even worse at your job than they are at theirs.
