Yes I am all for this idea, since the current system is not great. It’s not terrible by any means and I do enjoy my FC house and would not want to lose it but it could be a much better system. If you are so worried about players needing to work for houses why not put the ability to achieve it behind certain ranks in any given grand company (with small somewhere low, medium in the middle and larges behind champion rank). This way players have to earn it and work for their larges, and square would have a way to finish GC ranks with rewards that actually matter.
Also while i personally love to have my house on Island Sanctuary (since that would make entire island giant outdoors for my house and let use all outdoor slots, also being a great way to cap off island.) i recognise not everyone will like it, nor is it good idea to put out housing all the way to endwalker. So giving us just a small area where we can have our house is also great but it gives square another way to entice players to do content: background location. Wanna have a house on Carteneau Flats with dalamud in the sky? Run Binding Coils. Wanna have a house in Mhach or somewhere in the sea of clouds? Finish Heavensward alliance raids. Wanna have a house in elysium from omicron tribe quests? Finish those tribe quests. It would be a new type of reward for square to entice players with.
Also I just love how people can request all sorts of things on those forums from mounts and minions through reworking entire jobs to asking for new job quests and field operations like it’s no biggie. But ask for instanced housing and you suddenly “have to explain how square will make money” and “how much other content we are going to lose”. Also how “square earns money from people subbing to avoid demolition”. I want to remind you that demolition timers are essential for ward housing to work properly, so it was implemented. Not because square was greedy. And people who care so much about their houses(so fraction of people who own houses, so a fraction of a fraction of the entire playerbase) just adjusted to their situation.
