Looks p. bothered to meToo bad for you that won't happen, but what I'll do is lock you out of my house because I keep my house closed
But please do me the favor of bookmarking my post and come back to it in a few years when it's still not implemented, i'll be the one laughing.
Yall are being petty, ill do the same, doesn't bother me

The Wards is public space in FFXIV, with exceptions of inside where you can entirely lock the door shut, however an option to have friendslist/party/FC being able to enter if it is locked down would be a nice feature, if we could have that, that is.
Seems fair to me tbh, far better idea than this whole blacklist stuff.
Thanks! I like the idea.

Yes, since we have the option to allow friends to teleport to our plot, it would be nice to also have the option to allow friends to enter your house regardless of lock status so you don't have to be online to open the door for them.
I think it's pretty important to have access to a measure to let the general public in but exclude select individuals you've blocked.
I think adding a blacklist to housing would be a nice feature to keep people out of your house that you don't want in there while letting others you do want in. I am capable of two thoughts sometimes and also agree with the point that the friendslist and blacklist features also need an overhaul and the friendslist needs something like when you remove someone from your friendslist you are removed from theirs as well.

Y'all are describing a 'Whitelist' if you only want to allow select people to enter. Opening and closing the place all the time sounds tedious and like a very determined player could slip in while it's briefly open even if unwelcome.
If the current situation has people posting threads about it not being sufficient, it can probably be improved. Just because they choose not to address it doesn't mean a curmudgeonly player is 'right', only vindicated in their jadedness. But, not every thread calls for jadedness, cuz it doesn't always constructively add to or inform people's outlooks. It just kinda deservedly makes folks laugh at/be annoyed with you.
I think it's crazy that people have such negative experiences as stalking in this game, frankly. I suppose I've been lucky to not have anyone give enough of a shit about me in the decade I've been playing, but I don't think that means that those suffering for it couldn't be given more tools to deal with it.
I kind of get the sense too that some people want more out of the blacklist than they get. Like, at some point, the game's an MMO and they're going to exist in it, their choices are going to affect you indirectly even if you completely remove them from your game from being able to see them in chat, the world, joining any parties, randomly created or otherwise. The market's gonna have their stuff and other people are going to know them. That's just how social structures work, right? Keeping them specifically out of 'your spot' doesn't seem too extreme, though. They could even just show a closed door on the map like it would be if it's private so the blacklisted player doesn't have to feel particularly slighted. Sure, it'd be easy to dispel that appearance but then they only have themselves to blame, like spoiling themselves on the story.
I can definitely see people abusing the blacklist to enact fantasy racism or sexism, though, so it's a good thing nobody's paying money to go to these venues... Right?
This would be alright, but they'd also need to update the friendslist and fix it so that if we remove someone from it then we're removed from their list too.
Surprised you agree. You know a lot of venues will likely lock themselves down and require you to be escorted inside by having someone invite you into a party, right?
Shhh, don't tell them the thing they're agreeing to would just be a blacklist with more steps! You might confuse them and all their telling concern about being barred from venues.
