    It’s weird that the devs are so terrified of conceptual overlap between jobs even though Sage / Scholar exist lol. Like does it really matter if jobs can do things that are a bit similar to another job?

    Like the idea that only Astrologian’s are allowed to buff the party, only Scholars are allowed utility, only Sages are allowed more dps stuff, and only White Mages are allowed…uh… more healing? Lol.

    Personally I really don’t see the issue in having some overlap as long as the way in which the skills and effects granted are unique. Obviously I’m not saying more homogenisation is the answer lol, just that I think they’re way too quick to go ‘well X healer has Y so White Mage can never have that’

    Like, it doesn’t make sense to me that they say ‘well Astrologian exists so White Mages can’t have buffs’…but then Sage and Scholar are both allowed to exist as practically the exact same thing lol.

    I'm fairly sure that SGE was introduced to deliberately split the SCH playerbase in two so that they could actually balance the job without backlash. They've been stealth nerfing SCH at the start of every expansion since Stormblood, but it's never stuck. Eventually they just give up and redesign a 'role' around it.

    I hadn’t thought about it this way but that makes a lot of sense. There has been a bit of a divide on Scholar and what it should be for a while, at least between devs and players.

    The main question that raises is where does that leave Scholar? If they want to have ‘no overlap’ it can’t be a buffer (ast), or a dps healer (sage), or a ‘power healer’ (lol WHM). But is being a mitigation/utility healer enough, when utility is so undervalued compared to straight dps (or rDPS in ASTs case). It’s just like how White Mage has trouble standing on its own because the only identity it has is ‘power healer’, when nobody is having problems with healing in the first place.

Eukrasia only affects two skills and I wouldn’t even call them ‘augmented’, more just ‘stretched out’ as a shield/dot. Like you’d expect some kind of interactions like ‘casting spell X upgrades the next cast of spell Y’, but instead you just get Dark Arts but for one shield and one DoT.
    They could’ve had more interactions between Sage’s damage and healing that way too, like idk using Toxicon on an enemy increases the strength of the next shield, Soteria augments Dosis into Superdosis (name pending lol), or something along those lines.

    This was 1 from 2 biggest gripe over how SGE ended up to me.

    Where is Eukrasia Dyskrasia? Where is Eukrasia Phlegma? Where is Eukrasia Pneuma? Where is Eukrasia Toxikon? Where is Eukrasia Kerachole? Where is Eukrasia Haima? Where is Eukrasia Icarus?

    Do you count Zoe "augment its own magicks"? Iiiiiii gueessss... lmfao

    It’s been talked about a bit over on the healer forums, but “Eukrasia” as an augment is thematically making something beneficial. It would’ve made more sense in hindsight for Sage to not have any traditional healing spells. Instead, you have Dosis at level 1, and Eukrasia at level 2 which turns Dosis from a DPS attack into a heal, or perhaps Dosis does not trigger Kardia, but Eukrasian Dosis as another attack does, and Eukrasia has an MP cost, so you spend more MP to heal while attacking. Or something to that effect.
