Insane gear ilvl requirement for the lvl 60 alliance roulette

Unfortunately, Alliance roulette will not let a level 80 character queue if they don't have level 80 gear. The only way to get any when you've outleveled the MSQ is buy it off the marketboard or ask a friend to make it. It's not hard to do either of those things but some players are balking because of "principle". They don't understand that MMOs traditionally tie gear to the level of their class/job and not the level of the content they are doing.

This MMO only gives you gear according to the level of the content you are doing and never more than your MSQ progress. If they want to tie things only to level then they should expand the vendors in the 3 main cities. I am not going to buy lvl 90 gear on an alt to run lvl 50 CT. I’d rather not do the roulette at all.

CT is all I’ve been getting this past week on my geared lvl 90 everything main. I’ve dropped about half the time when CT popped only to get CT again later. So far, since the patch I’ve got 3x Aglaia (which I can’t do on my alt), 2XMach, 1xVoid Ark and countless CT. Once I get the tomes I need, I will stop running it completely.

What answer could anyone possibly have for "why don't you want to gear your alt for the roulette" other than "to force something lower level to pop"? If one wants to run the roulette on their alt, they should gear their alt. If they can't or won't gear their alt, then they can run the roulette on their main. If they can't gear their main for the roulette, then they are overleveled for the story and they don't need to be running the roulette on their main.

I have all the raids unlocked to lvl 80 on my alt and am in 530 gear, which is the appropriate gear for the content I can do. It’s nothing like ilvl cheesing as I haven’t reached the point of being able to unlock the lvl 90 raids nor any lvl 90 content. Not buying useless lvl 90 gear if roulette only gives me CT plus gear would be synched down anyway.

The roulette is not just a matter of need (no one really needs it). It’s a matter of running it with friends and it’s a nice fc activity but I am at the point where I don’t want to do it anymore: I am getting more CT on my main DC than I was pre-patch where Ivalice raids would pop regularly (maybe because several people doing msq are over leveled and locked out?)

I agree that the tomestone gear should be available based on job level and not MSQ progression. That's a restriction that has never made sense to me.

It's fine if you don't want to run the roulette. The game has plenty of other sources for XP and tomestones, not to mention the roulette bonus isn't helpful when you're already outleveling MSQ. There's still the option to direct queue for specific Alliance raids if you enjoy the content or want to glamour farm.
