    Why don't we have differents specialisations ?

    Hello,

    Let me explain my idea.

    Why don't we have some kind of stance, form, ... that change the effect of our skills.
    I know we may consider the various jobs as specialisations of our WoL but I means something that only change the visual effects of our job.

    As an non native english speaker, it would be easier to explain with an example : An elemental spe for white mage that change Dia and Glare into Stone and Aero. It will not the change the spell effect, power or even mana cost of course.

    This will allow us to differentiate ourselves without altering the balance between jobs.

    So ... why don't we have something like this ?

    It would be way, way, waaaaaayyyyy too much work for them. They’d have to implement alternate branches for each of the 19 jobs currently in the game (20 with Viper). Then assuming each job has two branches that’s 38 different skill sets that they need to balance individually against each skill set within and without the job itself.

    Having it be purely visual would be even less likely because they’d have to spend like insane amounts of money and resources, all just to make a spell glamour. Which again, having to do 20 times over, simply is not ever going to be feasible.

    Which raises the question: why tf are they still stuffing new jobs into the game when they literally cannot handle the current amount? Expectations , apparently (lol)

    They could make a "spell glamor" just like pet glamor for SCH and SMN. We can glamor glare as stone and dia as aero. It's not a lot of work for the devs because all the animation is already there.

    Instead of tweaking each job, they let us switch between different jobs. When you can have all jobs on a single character, there is less need to be able to customize each of them.

    Besides, once upon a time we could do minor customization of our characters - choose which cross-class skills to equip, choose which stat to add a minor boost to, for some classes choose between a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weapon + shield, have slightly different resistance versus different elements.
    All those things have systematically been removed one by one over the years, making one White Mage the same as any other White Mage now. I don't see the developers changing direction again on this. They are more likely to add more jobs for those who want different game play.
