In my opinion the aesthetic overlaps far too much with Sage for this to work. I'd much rather have something with a more distinct identity.
Next Physical Ranged :
Blitzballer
(Origin FFX, Wakka)
Main Weapon: Blitzball, thrown and kicked at enemies.
Next Melee (Scouting):
Sky Pirate:
(Origin FFIX, Zidane)
Main Weapon: Twinblades

I think they could something cool with Dual Pistols. The job could focus more on gun play while MCH sticks to gadgets. It could have buff and debuff bullet, and more of a focus on multi-hit skills. Plus Merlwyb already uses them so I’d imagine it’d be easy to implement lore wise
Lots of weapons I would love to see implemented. A Geomancer that uses bells for ranged attacks would be neat. A Taoist that uses scrolls and origami creations would be a favorite of mine. We got introduced to the Gleaners in Sharlayan so I could see that becoming a ranged job where you use a sling shot and random items from your giant backpack like maybe even a few specially trained specimen that act as helpful minions. A class that uses an oversized boomerang would also appeal to me. I fondly remember mathematician from Tactics and if that could be implemented in a fun way to calculate and compound damage at range I would be in love. Maybe a job quest from a Treasurer in the Uldah Syndicate that revolves around collecting debts by force where you use an Abacus as a weapon.
Hey look i was partially right so far, new class looks like zidane![]()
There is Viper and there is Geomancer. There are no other jobs coming in 7.0.
Geomancer is not confirmed, only speculated. Their origin is also within the eastern continents and draw various parallels to Astrologians.
There are other prominent magic jobs within the FF franchise that could very well fit the bill. Green Mage, Time Mage, hell there could be inspiration from the Bravely games even.
Geomancer sounds really lame, i hope thats not it.
