Error 3102 Club, Order of the 52nd Hour

Having spent 3 years grinding that mount out to now be on >100 roulette remaining... if they removed that I genuinely think I'd quit the game. Its not fair on the people who invested years into grinding it. Removal needs to come with re-direction otherwise you'll hurt a lot of players who made that effort

I disagree with this. I think a crown and the sort of image it conveys appeals a little bit too much to the ego of certain types of players who really don't need any more encouragement to think that their veteran status or orange parse permits them to place themselves on a pedestal above everyone else.
And I do think a global chat of some kind would help alleviate the problems with NN immensely. The actual socialising aspect of this game is pretty poor considering it's an MMO, where the choice is between hanging around the godless wastelands of the main city social hubs or hoping you'll luck out with a decent FC and pray they don't live on Discord like 90% of them out there do, and often people congregate there just to find people to chat to. Giving them an outlet elsewhere would take the burden off NN and allow it to exist for its actual intended function.

People like to pretend one can't work towards a goal and be helpful at the same time.Having spent 3 years grinding that mount out to now be on >100 roulette remaining... if they removed that I genuinely think I'd quit the game. Its not fair on the people who invested years into grinding it. Removal needs to come with re-direction otherwise you'll hurt a lot of players who made that effort
I was in a raid the other day. Saw people failing some mechanics. Obviously hadn't come across them before and kept dying. I explained them.
Then I looked up to see five crowns, absolutely silent and doing nothing to help.
The mentor system has failed.

I am a mentor, But l never bothered to opt in the nn. Looks like l never willExcellent suggestions. I’d also add better policing of the Novice Network chat channel. I’ve repeatedly reported a person actively thrashing the game in NN, telling sprouts to uninstall the game immediately and even sexualising underage lore NPCs in NN. Nothing was ever done about this person.
Really does depend on server. My NN is filled with great people and some VERY helpful people who actually have the experience and the resources to give detailed instructions on certain parts of the game.
Some servers? 1000% trash.

There is no system that can solve shitty human behavour... ( same issue in rl at workplaces)
Egocentric people are drawn towards things that gives them "status"
- such as ultimate weapons, titles and mentor crown( in this game)..

Kinda seems like most people in here just want to punish some random mentor they got matched with and have made that experience into "all mentors are this way". The vast majority of times you are with a mentor you won't even notice them because the run will be like most others and nobody will care. You only stop and notice that said person is a mentor if they do something you don't like. I'm all for adjusting the system as it is designed, but I think people should let go of the idea of "no rewards" because this is an MMO and people tend to only do things for rewards in MMOs. Without incentive there will be few who actually use the system.

I feel like these threads always miss the point of the mentor of the system. It's fine as it is. It's a built in system to let players help each other with shared knowledge and experience.
I don't see what changing the name or adding a minimum sub time is supposed to do.a few ideas i had, you are ofcourse welcome to post your own!
*Change the name from mentor to veteren
*240 days subscribed required.
*mentor status lost after 6 months of inactivity (can be regained by talking to smith and completing all current trails and ex's aswell as longing in for more than 24 in game hours)
*Completion of current ex and all subsiquent ex's required
*Crown removed and changed with medal or shield above players head
*Mentor roulete only pairs you with a player new to that instance
*Mentor roulete now shows job in need and instances recruiting
*Ability to que for mentor on every role and change depending on whats needed when the duty pops (ex i que up, something pops and says "dps needed" "tank needed" ect-)
completion of current NORMAL raid required, *All Aliance raids + Msq (6.5 at time of post) (mb if this is already a thing)
*Increased rewards to incentivise mentors to do roulette even after 2k
*New instanced area designed to teach sprouts how to use esuna, spread for splashes, soak towers and stack markers
*Crafting and battle mentor chats being seperate (honestly this a gripe more than a demand) honestly just massive NN reform in general
appologies if spelling is bad, will review after!
I think I see what the inactivity check is supposed to do, but then consider that mentor is about creating top parsing EX clears. It's about helping novices. You can retain all the relevant info you need to mentor beyond 6 months. In fact a lot of the questions I answer in NN are things I haven't experienced in years. Sprouts do sometimes ask for EX clears, but more often they want to know why Cure I is bad, why they can't dye something, how to use glam plates, or they need help with some instanced duty. Anything that requires EX clears is missing the mark by such a large amount it should probably be discarded outright.
The icon doesn't matter, and out of anything you could suggest is a medal any different from a crown?
Mentor roulette changes I'd love to see, but only pairing with new players is not one of those changes and it should be obvious why. Returners are part of the novice system, why are you ignoring them? Looking beyond that, just because you're not a novice or returner doesn't make you a perfect player either.
Mentor roulette showing the roles and instances is a great suggestion. I'd add on top of that allowing mentors to pick which instance to go assist. This avoid being randomly dumped into a duty that you don't know, which is a weakness of the current roulette. I'd also remove all roulette rewards and make it strictly about helping people.
The ability to change sounds nice if it's possible. I don't agree with the requirement to unlock all content (although this is already required, so I don't know what you're adding it?)
Rewards just bring the people chasing rewards. I'd rather the rewards all go away. The reward for mentor is knowing that you've helped other players.
Dungeons already exist to teach a bunch of stuff. Having a one off instance that can easily be forgotten isn't going to help.
Separating NN between battle and craft doesn't make sense. It prevents one side from learning about the other, which is helpful for sprouts and mentors alike.
You're not necessarily wrong, but MMO's don't have to be this way, and I think the focus on rewards only harms the genre.
