Party Finder needs to be unified across data centers

I DC travel every day. It usually takes 30s each way. I don't know what you are talking about. You are trying to make something bigger than it as usual. Don't you get tired of doing the same thing based on nothing? I certainly would.

It still is terrible and makes the game feel worse imo. It is a feature that has both positive and negatives, but I for one would be upset if they deleted it, I hate having to travel to another DC just to get in the group with people who would be on my data center just cuz that is what the community does now.

It's an MMO. We have no choice but to do as instructed if we want to play most content. There's little room for resistance when thousands of people go the same way.


Also, as an added note - this has been devastating for FCs as people cannot use FC features while DC traveling. The casual community has become a hollowed-out shell of its former self. The game has "people" everywhere, but they certainly don't talk to each other. It's become a solo game unless you have a static or are in one of the big overly-moderated Discords for niche features.

I'm sure SE knows how demanding it is for a cross-DC PF considering how many times it gets brought up when players talk about the cons of DC travel. All we can do is play the waiting game and pray SE has any chance of implementing it.

Which brings me to the actual feedback/suggestion, as the title implies. With the release of data center travel, on NA specifically (I am not sure about EU/JP/OCE as I do not play in those regions), slowly the raiding scene has transitioned to party finder existing solely on the Aether data center. At the time of writing, on the Primal DC, just after the weekly reset, on Tuesday evening, there are less than 10 parties in the "High-End Duty" category. Even beyond the high-end content, the drought does extend to more "casual" forms of content in the form of groups for older trials/raids, to be done synced or unsynced. Meanwhile on Aether, there are over 100 groups in the high end category and significantly more in the other categories as well.

EU player here. I can confirm that Chaos is very much dead since DC travel became a thing. Light usually has 10 times as many open PF at any given time and it really sucks.

Well the issue is that there really is no incentive for people to go against the tide and stay on their data center. It's a problem a the positive feedback loop. The more people concentrate on Aether the more encouraged others are to do the same. Yes it is a problem created by player behavior but it's impossible to put the genie back in the bottle now and tell everyone to not travel.

Not to mention something I tried to express in my original post, which is that niche content suffers as a result as well. If I make a PF for, let's say an old EX at minimum item level, having that listing visible to everyone on all of NA is going to make my group fill much faster than if it's just tucked away on Primal. Even if I travel to Aether to make the group, wouldn't it be better if people could browse all of the parties seamlessly?
