I liked most of theh new updates, but I'm not a fan of the new limbal ring either, I like the current glow quite a lot. I hope they adjust it to get it back, it's a really unique feature to them.

ooooof he might as well not have the limbals, they're so dull. heres to hopping that STC note means they're open to bringing a little life back into lizzer eyes :c
I appreciate how smoother they look but if Auri limbal rings are no longer going to maintain their "glow" I would much rather the customization option be reallocated to something like horn/scale type because as subtle as they look right now in the rework the option will be about as meaningful as the bust slider on Lalafell.
(Or alternatively, make it an option for people to choose how "glowy" they want the limbal rings to be.)

Yeah, that's what I was talking about, the scales are looking more duller and can hardly see limbal rings. Sorry if my wording was off.

I play Au Ra too and I definitely prefer the new eyes, they look much more natural and the way they must have been from the beginning.
Hopefully DAWNTRAIL will come with a free Fantasia because I'll have to update my Au Ra characters, I avoided the LED rings before but seeing the new look I absolutely want them.
Lucky for you the limbal rings can be added and removed at the aesthetician.I play Au Ra too and I definitely prefer the new eyes, they look much more natural and the way they must have been from the beginning.

I liked the shiny horns and scales from the previous update, too bad players had to complain and Mr. Yoshida decided to discard the idea, in this case it would be great to have both options, one for those who prefer the glossy look and one for those who prefer a matte appearance.

Could you point out which users are saying this without being obvious.I greatly like the new look for Au Ra, it retains the same overall feel but updates the look to be more stylized and akin to what we've seen in artwork and bullshot renders of the race. The lighter limbals are whatever to me, they look nice and with it being transitioned to a shader rather than an actual texture graphic, this was inevitable.
Personally, I don't think the current eyes add "life" as they have often been criticized of being doll like or having a deer in headlights stare—which I do agree with. Even playing an Au Ra all this time, I recognize that our characters often do not look alive; I've simply grown accustomed to it. As such, I believe there's far more life in the new eyes and the only adjustment that really needs to be done to the limbals is to make them a touch brighter than they showed at fanfest and maybe restore some gloss to the horns/scales.
Ultimately, I feel there's a lot of people who are just too used to the current looks of character and any change will be off-putting; there are many in this thread and others who are basically decrying every aspect of the update and to that I can't help but shake my head. The issue, I think for most, is that they don't understand that what we currently have is the absolute bare minimum of what is acceptable for a game like this. Any changes will alter the look and feel because the current game was developed and made with a myriad of limitations and constraints that they now no longer have—this is inevitable.
Its not "more realistic", it's sharper, sure, but that's because current textures and models are so incredibly low res that it's almost laughable.
Regardless, I think there's many who don't understand what they're talking about or are so entrenched in their views of the game's visual style that any change at all is going to make them mad. Everything they showed is better, it's not realistic nor is it trying to look like XVI—that's just utter nonsense.
I'd be very disappointed if the incredible progress they showed today gets altered or scrapped because people are too picky and way too loud.
Cause no one is saying that the upgrades are bad, but unhappy with the effect seemingly being removed of the various glows of Au Ra Limbal Rings.
Unless you mean that folk are intentionally trying to view players who like the Limbal Rings glow as not wanting a update, then they have been wrong all this time.
They even try to dismiss the Roe case of it as well.
I agree with you about Dunesfolk eyes and I couldn't find a thread about the Lalafell changes. I hope they realize that the current Lalafell changes would remove the unique traits that made Dunesfolk distinct from Plainsfolk, because with the changes they look the same at a glance. Dunesfolk were immediately clockable from their bright mostly single colored irises before and by adding more darker shading to it they have eliminated the ethereal glow they had.I am not a fan of this change, right now you can achieve the contrast subtley of the second after photo by making the limbal ring a darker color. They also ruined Dunesfolk lalafell eyes, they went from a kind of otherworldy pale shade to puppy dog eyes...It really irritates me.

I LOVE yhe change. Soooo much prettier!!!! The au ra no longer looks dead inside Yay.
Also, i think the toned down limbal ring is a good choice. I feel like the current limbal rings look horrible unless they are in very similar color to the eyecolor, atleast in cutscenes. I tried very different colors once, and i almost vomited when i saw a close up cutscene, its such a clear ugly line i hate it. I think this is what they are trying to fix, to make the line more natural and blend more into the eyecolor. Im sure the glow will still be great, (i love glowing eyes) just a bit toned down. Im not worried about it. Im even more excited about the graphic update now then i was beforei dont get all the complaints.
