If anything. The Field Operations have been sorely missed.

Instead of a completely covered Ilsabard, we could have had a "Liberation Campaign" post-expansion to visit all the regions in Ilsabard we haven't seen. And get rid for once and all of all the "???" regions in game.

Still no mention of Exploratory Missions in the keynote at the London Fan Festival. I'm honestly starting to get worried that we won't get one, especially considering they want to implement a Lifestyle Content to be done with other players and not solo, unlike Island Sanctuary.

And if anyone at the Fan Fest is reading this, ask the developers to bring back Exploratory Missions and their large-scale raids!

    how about no ?

really exploratory zones are the most boring content that game has released. it's level 0 of game design and fun. bashing monster for hours stopped being fun in the mmo genre like 15 years ago.
before putting ressources in that kind of boring content ,i don't know, maybe try to make the open world more alive and useful ? ppl asking for exploratory zones forgot that open world exist and could serve the same purpose (you could even put those large scale dungeons/raids into the OW) and you won't even have to deal with a second "leveling" and "walls" preventing you to do whatever you like.

Hopefully we'll get news next time but Deep Dungeon isn't a battle content to keep players on the game.
Deep dungeon is too repetitive and soloing it is more of a timewaster than a challenge.

The positive point about that new content was "doing it with other players". Which was the whole crux of the Exploratory zone content that people been wanting. As long as its done interesting and fun with other people Im all for trying out new things

Especially since they seem to have no idea what to do with deep dungeons considering we have gotten 3 coats of paint of the same boring stale 2015 rougelike

I'd like to preface by saying that Exploratory Zones and Adventure Forays I think are important for the game not just as things for players to do... but also the immersion factor of being an adventurer.

These pieces of content add so much to the game.

Nobody I think wants to be tethered to the game... but I know for a fact that unlike me (a player who takes many breaks) there are a lot of players who DO play 24/7 who have done everything in the game.

You need something for them to work towards.

The good thing about FF content is it's not designed to be an eternal grind. This game is not eternal grind-orientated. BUT the kinda grindy content we do have is satisfying because it can keep you occupied and working towards something that has an end goal.

I noticed after playing this game for many years the fall off or quitting of players more so than ever before. It's always existed and to EW credit it's mostly just quitting then coming back for the next patch.

However, this isn't good for the games health.

Who here has ever played FF14 completely alone? I have and it's soul crushing in isolation. If you don't have zones like these, for people who devour content, they leave and leaving while healthy for them, creates an environment of isolation for other players. We need these systems for those dedicated players so that people don't have to be left alone because I know what that feels like and dedicated players deserve better treatment.

To not include the addition of this content especially when we're exploring something like the New World or even going to the thirteenth... is a huge missed opportunity and this is some of the major content I've noticed many players mentioning they've been missing. It's the secret ingredient of Casual content that everyone can enjoy.

If there isn't going to be a new exploratory mission
In Dawntrail, chances will be me not sticking with the content that much unless they found another engaging way to keep me in (which I hoped Variant and Deep Dungeons to do that but oof.)
Even after missing for almost half a year, I do not feel like resubbing for next month, it does not help I tend to play solo majority of time with some rare friend parties for treasure hunting.

It's hilarious for people to argue that exploratory content isn't successful because the zones are not packed 1-2 expansions later after they were initially released. Does that mean that all the savage raids, dungeons, raids, etc. from previous expansions were failures because party finder isn't packed full of people trying to run those?

It's insane to condemn Eureka or Bozja as unsuccessful and unpopular content for Endwalker when they come from earlier expansions. It's not the job of old content from previous expansions to proccupy players during later expansions in order to justify being made. It's not Eureka's fault that there's a content lull in Endwalker. Endwalker needed its own fresh exploration content to remedy the content lull people felt. The fact that people were returning to Eureka and Bozja during Endwalker speaks volumes in the other direction if anything.

I wish they'd consider combining the best parts of multiple types of content for exploratory content in DT. Big area(s) with field content, including things for gatherers and crafters, ala the big fates they could do during Ishgardian Restoration. Overworld combat content ala monster packs, fates/NM's/hunts/critical engagements. Instanced dungeon content within those zones, maybe diving into ancient ruins in expeditions or some such. Maybe even include exploratory-specific treasure maps that could be rewarded from all of said content? Is this just sounding like what Diadem should have been if it were successful the first time...?

They have so much to work with over the past expansions, I hope they make use of those ideas and not just go for a 10% approach.
