Actually what you pointed out can also be corrected and done with maps instead of remodeling the whole character.

I understand what a normal map is. That does not appear to be what is happening here.

In addition to this they have to keep the models usable on platforms like PS4 which might not be able to handle a higher poly count player models in areas with massive player congestion.

Yoship has said that PS4 players probably "won't be able to turn it on" regarding the graphical update. They may do what WoW did and keep the old models available as an alternative for Dawntrail then drop them entirely in 8.0 when they presumably drop PS4 support as well.

They also don't want to run into the 1.0 issues again where poly counts were way to high for an MMO.

You make it sound like they pull a slot machine to decide the poly budget. They have assuredly taken performance into account.

Now the reason I can say this fairly confidently is because I work on this kind of stuff as a Technical Artist so I do know a thing or two about this.

Well once the models are available to load up and dissect we can return to this conversation to see who was correct.

As I said, my interest is explained by the fact that I am a world and lore enjoyer, and like to collect new knowledge. Waiting for months may indeed feel like dancing on the coals, but I had been waiting for the opportunity to travel to the New World for that long!
So: as you know, we have new tribes coming up and all, and I'm wondering if our featured "the leg" NPC might be part of one of them. I love this style of clothing. Also those little metal plaques on boots remind me of the clover-shaped earring Krile got.
By the by, it is not the only ones there. While the symbolism involving solar elements seems pretty logical to me for those lands, I wonder if there are Helions there who saved their queen.

p.s. a pinch of offtop: really hope that their ears will be animated. /joy of miqo's lads still has the ability to raise endorphin levels.

And true, to the fact it would be weird if they delayed the reveal.

It was mostly me thinking, they will likely reveal the Female Roth(gal)s at any point.

But the Hidden NPC has no real Requirement to be shown or not til 7.0

if anything, they might have a scenario where they petition/talk to The Forum, with only their extremities shown.

While Conveniently missing a chance of running into the WoL/D(Figuratively, or if you wish to be so. Anime Literally.)

But I'm thinking way too much about the NPC we known Very Little about except for the "Funnily Excessive Lenghts"(Good Name for a Very, Long, Long Haaaiiir Style) SE is pulling to keep them hidden.

So I'll also stop my derailment of focusing too much on the chance that while Rothgals will get revealed eventually. There is no promised from a new Main Plot Relevant NPC to be revealed til lager.

IDK Maybe it's just my color preference.
But the Rothgal with Darker Fur in the Red/Gold Armor just hits me more strikingly.

I personally feel the coloring of this one is probably the best choice due to the yellow fur one blending in too much with the accent pieces of the armor and the blue being too much blue, the Blue one might look nice with a light grey or white fur to help it stand out from the armor. Other than that the good work on the pieces.

On another note 4 hours till EU Fanfest, here's hoping that we see a reveal today since outside the keynote none of the other panels make sense at EU. Might be disappointed again if we have to wait till JP but if that's the case then I guess we'll have to wait. Also I personally hope Hrothgals have a look closer to the male counterparts and less like a weird furred Miqo'te/Na'vi that the Queen looks in the art book, so I'll take the left fork.

Are male Hrothgar ears animated? Not that it matters, mind you, as I agree. All the animal ears should be animated.

But the blue one is a personal indulgence for me. I love the blue fur/white hair combo!

Agreed, just in this round of art, The Darker Fur came out ahead.
(Though for me, Blue tends to align more with a specific fox.)
