I like face 3 also it is the one I have used but the horns are so large they do not look great.
It has been asked a long long time ago, and the reply was they could not do it so I doubt they will change it now and we will be stuck with them.

People have wanted this for yeeeeeeeears. Speaking as someone who's currently happy with my horns and face, I agree with you OP. More customization options are a good thing. It would be nice to have this. There's no reason not to.
Now, because it's these forums, prepare for people who come in and tell you why you don't actually need this, or why they think it's ugly so nobody else should be allowed to have it, or why SE is simply too small and too indie to even consider it, or that there are other more pressing things for the team to deal with first (why can't they do both?). Bonus points when people who have as much knowledge about the game's programming as you or I come in to try and give a tech explanation of why some QoL feature is "not possible" only for it to get implemented a year later or something (looking at you, guy who told me overmelding couldn't be automated like it is today because of technical debt only for them to implement it; had enough of the LARPing-developer excuses tbh).
Anyway, bumping to show support even though you're literally better off screaming about this in the xiv discord or just @ing the company on twitter since nobody important checks this place.
This feature already exists. You’d have to use of some tecnology, tho. But it’s a something that can be easily done in a couple of hours…only for pc users.

Just bumping this thread. I really wish they would allow us to choose the horns.
When Yoshi announced the race he said there would be a lot of customisation, we are still waiting lol. I am unsure how difficult it would be to implement and he was asked a long time ago but he said no. I am hoping as time goes on maybe they could do it somehow.

I mean same goes l would like the option to not have face marking on any cat girl faces
Bumping this as well because it genuinely ruins the entire racial customization for me. The face I love has horns I can't stand and so I could never even Fantasia into one for a while for fun. In many ways it feels worse than even Viera customization which was pretty limited on hairstyle selection for years (it's a lot better now so I can't really complain.) At least Viera can choose their ears regardless of face, Au ra are stuck with 4 strict looks and it makes their customization options feel very sparse, almost as sparse as Hrothgar. I know there are probably some spaghetti code reasons for why this can never happen, but it's probably my most wanted change to the entire customization section of any race.
I'm hoping that giving Viera multiple options for ears when they were first developed is a sign that the devs are planning to separate Au Ra Horns from their faces in the future.Bumping this as well because it genuinely ruins the entire racial customization for me. Well, only if the spaghetti code or whatever else doesn't prevent that from happening...

The choices change; the number and style of choices stay the same.
Viera get to choose their ear shape, plus a length slider.
Au Ra get to choose their tail shape, plus a length slider.

As I understand it, it's because the slot that allows lalafell, elezen and viera to choose their ears is taken up by tails in the case of miqo'te and au ra (hrothgar seem to be a mess all their own). Yoshida did at one point promise they'd at least look into whether expanding customization is feasible or not, I dare to hope that turns out to be the case...
Glamour without restrictions* is long overdue!
If you think so too, help keep the thread going!

Hrothgar tails would have to also be in the same slot as other tails. Their tangle is reassigning the hairstyle slot (with its linked colour and highlight palettes) to be used for fur pattern + colour instead. Which is why their hair had to be tied to their faces instead.
That said, as I've written in a few places, it seems like whatever trickery they used to add a hairstyle choice – apparently achieved by switching out identical faces with different hairstyles built in – sounds like it would be ideal to repurpose for allowing horn choice.

So much this, I support it as well. I don't mind the other specific customizations, even though it would be nice to have some faint gradient (like some special NPCs have) on the tips of the horns, but separating the horns from the face would be one of my happiest, small dreams for this game.
One of my favorite horns is in face 2, but I just can't bring myself to feel comfortable with it because it looks a lot like a person who bullied me throughout my teenage years, and just the memory of her is enough to make me feel uughhhh...
My favorite face is face 3, all the way, and the one I feel the most comfortable with, but I can't say I'm fond of the avocado horns at all.
Since there are no other adjustments to be made on other models (it doesn't affect hair or head gear), then I don't see why horns being separated from the face are not a thing yet. I may be wrong because I am no dev, but at least having that separation seems like it could be reasonably easy to implement, or so I hope & cope.
