    I would love to see more done with chocobos in general. Did you know that your chocobo companion still has "accuracy" stat for some reason? That's how forgotten the chocobos are.

    Grand Company feels so irrelevant now, and that sucks. They should really have gear that is relevant for each expansion, and looks unique to their faction. More quests too. So people would have stronger reasons for caring about a decision that seems so important when you are still in ARR.

    Goldsaucer really needs more to do, and better things to do. Any Way the Wind Blows is just rng nonsense that feels frustrating. The airplane one feels like something for a toddler when implemented in ffxiv. There are more people with solo DD titles than Vermillion or whatever it is called.

    Systems like Island Sanctuary would have garnered much more positive attention if people could actually work together on their islands, and had a reason to visit each other. But they don't, and now Square just shrugs and says they'll pull the plug.

    That's the thing, SE threw meaningful decision making out along time ago. In XI you had entire quest lines based on your starting city etc (could still swap if you wanted) and here it's token at best. It's like Skyrim where you can be a wizard assassin thief warrior. lol

    I'm not sure that creating content that requires a new play-through to experience whatsoever is a great example of "choice".

    Yes, it is one example of choice, but... in the most constrained manner possible that also produces about the fewest play-hours per development hour possible.

The last thing we need is to make FFXIV into a chorefest with a bunch of systems just for the players to keep up to date. We've seen this happen before in Battle for Azeroth where this thing was at its worst and it just drove off its playerbase.

    In this case though and in my opinion I do believe that FFXIV could use to at least expand just a few older systems like battle leves to actually be a reliable source for exp again, Bicolor gemstones to pre-Shb zones for more open world activity and Squadrons to give you like a weekly target missions where you can earn some endgame rewards (as well as updating the dungeon list to include SB-EW stuff and probably retool the content to be like trusts because controlling the squad itself is just ass)

    I think that be a good start.
    It's not about making the game into a chorefest. It just gives you other things you can do... if you choose to do them. All the dead content in this game feels like a massive bait and switch for new players. You go into it thinking the game supports this and people actually do this stuff... but it just... is generally a waste of time. Unless you're going after an achievement or something. Having it be dead content is what makes it a chore. Instead of it getting to be a thriving part of the game actively used by a decent chunk of players daily.

    Its not really fun having to get your grand company rank up when you want to buy a house. Since playing the game "naturally" doesn't really encourage you to go through that obvious dead end. Why would you level up your squad when you can just queue for it with other players? Or do the trust system? Now if they merged the squad into the trust system somehow and gave you a way to continue ranking up with new things to do, and new rewards that would be interesting.

    Considering Dawntrail is right around the corner, I wonder if that expansion was the issue all along?

    Since they're going on 10 more years of this, maybe they don't have time to look back on older content because they're constantly working on newer stuff everyday.

    Making Yoshi P should consider hiring a temporary separate team to handle older content (to catch everything up) while his main team handles the newer stuff.

    They are only relevant in open world MSQ duties and fates, where you can have a chocobo healing you a bit. And they most likely will always remain like that. There is no point adding more here as the real content doesnt allow them anyway.

    Its a side activity, so on that, rng is fine. As the times are static you can farm specific gates and get the achievements that way. To me the PvP oriented events are the real content (racing, minions, majong, triad), and while some dont allow real updating here (tt, majong), they still often involve a collector aspect (tt and verminion).

    But i agree here, new stages would be welcome, a new race area and battlefield layout for verminion could be welcome.

    Add achievements towards each arena and you even force players onto the newer fields (and by also adding one to the old, you keep both relevant). Same for chocobo racing, there is a very nice EW track that could be made that also suits the storyline.

    I think that over time this one is actualy going to improve, especialy for newer players (the grind doesnt take extremely long as most of it happens over time). Its staged releasing of levels and rewards are good for both old and new players. But that means that during DT they will have to keep updating this.

    But to me the main issue is the seperate reward pool for cowries. 1 of them is near meaningless except for a very few very specific housing items. At least 1 of the types now has a long grind option to go for.

    I've thought about it. We got the next keynote in a few days, but from what we have so far..

    ->The usual battle content that we're basically guaranteed (msq dungeons, raids (normal and alliance), trials)
    ->New plans for Deep Dungeon
    ->New form of battle content we haven't seen yet is being developed
    ->New Lifestyle Content
    ->Graphics overhaul
    ->Potentially the next field zone in 7.X (in interview from last fanfest but not yet confirmed for DT)
    ->Significant amount of the jobs may have new rotations and actions

    And if all of this holds water, we are looking at the expansion bringing us the most out of any expansion so far. It truly feels like maybe they are shifting most of their focus to Dawntrail which is genuinely what I'm hoping at the moment. It helps me look forward to seeing what the next keynote holds for us in a few days.
