Naoki Yoshida recieves prize in Brasil Game Show - El logro de una vida.

The "Lifetime Achievement" award - El logro de una vida.

"Yoshida is widely credited as being the savior of FFXIV. The game initially launched to disastrous reviews until Yoshida was placed in a director and producer role for the game. His decision to relaunch and rebuild the game from the ground up while still adding to and improving the existing release is often cited as the reason for the title’s resurgence and rise in popularity. Yoshida subsequently served as a producer for Final Fantasy XVI, and has now worked as a game director at Square Enix for over two decades."

After giving the proper congratulations for such an incredible work.

I wish this visit would capitalize eventually in the extension of XIV to the Latin American zone. Both portuguese and spanish languages are in junction a huge market. And historically Final Fantasy has almost always offer the translation of the main and side entries in the franchise the options for portuguese and spanish.

Not only that, recently launched Final Fantasy XVI is the first in the series to have spanish voice acting and even more daring - is a Latin American localization, not European which was usually the case. That doesn't mean in anyway a discrimination toward the peninsular spanish at all: But this is a chance to ask for a true localization that embraces our incredibly rich languages.

I truly wish they were to expand our latitudes.

The infraestructure here is not bad on most capital cities and mayor cities, for example im myself from Chile and i have quite the decent internet infrastructure arround me, not living in a huge city (im close to both most important harbors and the capital of the nation though) and most times is not me ranting about high ping or lag in the chat... But still would be amazing to have:

    A Latin American Datacenter.

I have had friends discouraged from touching XIV just because its not avaliable in Spanish. So a proper localization would go a long way to attract new players. And then a proper data center would go a long way to improve the experience of playing from here, I usually have somewhere between 170 and 200 ping connected to NA, so a SA DC would be the dream

I am really happy and impressed of how far the game has come, and I really hope they strive to make more bridges to connect and invite new players to the game. As it is right now, all my hispanic speaking friends in game just default to english and it makes me slightly sad

No, I am very sorry, but no more datacenters, and I sincerely hope they dont do it, ever.

They could barely fill materia and dynamis, materia is a ghost town, basically on life support, and Dynamis is extremely quiet that people cant even queue any sort of content there that requires more than 5 people.

Stop asking for more dcs, the game does not have the population for it.

Im always greeting people and celebrating duties in spanish: "Buenas tardes", "muchas gracias", "buena partida". Magic words ~

And many times i've read replies in Italian, Portuguese and yes of course, Spanish.
At least once per 24 raid that i do. In dungeons is also very common.

South East Asia/Oceania and Latin America are really diferent markets and population, and cultures: Not only that, Dynamis is more of a damage control measure than a proper datacenter: I'ts function is to alliviate the other 3 NA datacenters so is only natural is very "silent": One could argue that the NA infrastructure needs an upgrade rather than just opening more datacenters.

But you are right in something: You would see a drop in population in the NA datacenter if we were to assume full "100%" population transfer.

Besides: The first and priority thing being asked/offering feedback here is the Localization of the game. The datacenter can perfectly be done later or not at all.

Mixed opinions on this one. Materia didn't work out because the playerbase it was meant to target just wasn't sufficiently substantial in size to support it, and Dynamis was put into operation too late to benefit from its intended purpose of overflow from the other DC's that were all congested to the extreme when EW launched. By the time it got going, people could easily play on their original DC's again, so there was little motivation to switch. Dynamis can't get queues because you couple that with the availability of DC travel (i.e. if DC travel wasn't a thing for PF, you'd probably see more reliable queues on Dynamis). I think it'll be interesting to see if Dynamis gets going when DT launches and we have a surge again.

The real question is does the LA/SA market have enough of a population that would sustain its own DC should the game be translated into Spanish/Portuguese and such a DC be opened.

If a Datacenter is not a market-viable thing.

At least a Localization would allow the game to be introduced and generate a more favorable market-envoriment to later evaluate a datacenter.

    A two-step localization.

Out of curiosity, was the Spanish localization done well for FFXVI?

A common past complaint regarding Spanish localizations in various games is that they've always been poorly done, leaving many native speakers (whether Latin American or European) saying they may as well not have bothered.

If the gaming industry is finally taking the Spanish language market seriously and getting the localizations done right, it would be a good thing.

As for a Latin American data center, that might be a hard sell after what happened with Materia but Central and South America have a much larger population than Australia and New Zealand. Part of Materia's problem was the assertion that adding a AUS/NZ data center would greatly increase the number of AUS/NZ FFXIV players and that didn't happen. I don't see a Latin American data center happening unless there are already enough FFXIV players in that region to make it worth SE's effort.

I made an alt on Oceania and it is a ghost town on all servers besides 2 hours of Australian peak times. And brought my main to dynamis for a few months for a house upgrade and realized i would have to datacenter travel back to primal for pvp and aether for raiding. I end up bringing my main back to primal and got lucky and got another small house with how dead even dynamis felt since everyone goes off to other datacenters for everything. I think the Oceania populations also already had established friend groups they had for years on NA/JP datacenters and weren't as willing to give up friends for better ping.

This was the main reason I stayed in Primal despite living in NZ, too many friends and a medium house I'd have to give up for better ping. I know a few others from Australia who stayed behind as well, mostly because they didn't want to give up playing with friends.
Had DC travel to Materia been a thing, I'd at least go raiding there and stick around Behemoth most of the time anyway.

I think cross region travel could help with Oceania.
