Would you be opposed to SE implementing a program to scan for addons/parsers?

This would be a bad idea as things like Discord are already, by their own admission, considered third party programs. Implementing anti-cheat or detection tools would require them to draw a line in the sand, which will lead to people finding loopholes and exceptions and exploiting that.

Even a calculator is a damn third party, so SE needs to clarify what is and what not AND thats nasty to do because there a million things that are not harmfull but would fall under such definitions and there things that are per definition not but very harmfull.

AND the most important part : my privacy, if you dont care fine but i do and i will not give them the right to say " uho, we foud software that could be...", just no. Many have to suffer because few behave like that. Also what should solve that ? What is with such a change achieved ? Less cheater ? NOPE. So what for ? Just nonesense.

BTW.: Parser are not a problem despite all attempts in this forum. In 18 years of raiding from diffrent games while using parsers: only 4 people were such special creatures. And i met a lot of people form Europe to Asia to USA and even Canada. I learned a couple of things : Canadians are not always friendly and can swear like sailors. Japanese have a obsession with german words. Texans dont speak english.... they speak something diffrent. And parser are not bad, people are.

I have nothing to hide as I have never used add'ons or mods. Other games also have a security scan to prevent unfair gaming and many people play these games anyway. It would actually make Final Fantasy much better in the current situation.

- No more bots under the world attacking every monster that you attack yourself in order to steal exp./loot.

- No more bots on the market board to automatically undercut every player 24/7 1000x a day.

- No more bards in Limsa playing songs from the charts for hours, fully automatically.

- No Erp players changing their character with a mod that can be seen by others who also use these mods. I ask myself whether these mods can make each player appear different without their knowledge, i.e. players who don't use these mods...

Anyone who is against this has something to hide, in this case mods?
Many people here have social media and reveal everything about themselves, but when a game uses a security system, suddenly so many cry, think about it.

If a program can scan your computer for FFXIV mods, it can also find all sorts of other files on your computer in the process.

Nude pictures of you and your SO?
Credit card numbers?
And so on.
Are you sure you want them to be able to see all that? Because if they can find your mods, they can find anything else on your computer as well.

Other then bots (which it wouldn't stop anyways. As if botters can't make a program to hide it's file/show fake files), who cares?
Bard players cause no harm. You can turn them off if it bugs you.
ERP players using mods, doesn't change what you see so why do you care?

-encrypting and preventing decryption/snooping on network packets the game uses
Anticheat doesn't go in and snoop around your computer. People have some strange ideas about what anticheat is

It's not about having something to hide. It seems privacy doesn't matter to you and you don't seem to grasp the concept but where I live it is a right and many people care about it.

Can't really give absolutes here, it depends on the implementation. I know some corporation that are very sleazy with what they do explicitly and some corporations that not only make the comparison on your data but store it (even if it's implicitly)...now this data is a security compromise to the user [depending on what data is stored].

If the error they throw is by recursive means, meaning not direct, that means anything is fair game. If they get too direct, then it can't stand the test of time. I would not like an anti-cheat solely based on the reason if they do what other companies do (that is a heartbeat check), then anything can throw a false positive and you'll have yet another reason getting kicked from the game (outside of the common crash occurrences that may happen or faulty connections). And not to mention, these checks aren't free from performance loss, so it would be at the expense of the user.
