So I think a lot of people in this thread have most likely said, Yeah it sucks mechanically, in a relatively recent interview Yoship said alliance raids were made with players who have no skill in mind, and when thinking about OG Crystal Tower, OG Void Ark Trilogy and The Ivalice Raids, idk if he felt the amount of skill players had base line was going down or if he needed to adjust for the lack of skill noticed prior. I played every alliance raid on content so far and the amount of effort has gone down drastically.

Now I've said this in another thread, but the amount of engagement XIV requires from you has gone down, decision making is no longer something you have to do. I've been playing Fnal Fantasy games my entire life and I'm in my 30s, the move to FF being more cinematic vs being more action and gameplay oriented has been going on for years. I hope this trend ends soon for XIV.

    That's surprising to me.

This game really REALLY needs to tone it down on the flashing lights and mind disabled players a little more.
Eulogia in particular was awfully hard to see, especially after the arena changed. I finished the raid feeling very nauseated and because of that I think I'll skip replaying it.
There was absolutely NO NEED to blast people's eyes so much. Other than that, I found the raid to be a bit boring. Aglaia was definitely the best out of the 3.

These are the amount of wipes my week 1 Savage group endured. To be fair, we had some connection issues and ran into the infamous bug with P12. So both those numbers are a little inflated. Nevertheless, "Savage level" wiping is an order of magnitude larger than the one or two you used to see with 24 mans. In fact, the most I've ever seen is five wipes to OG Thunder God, and that was once in his entire existence. To emphasise how much of an anomaly what was, I must have run Orbonne well over 100 times back then and never saw a wipefest that bad.

Having the possibility of full party wipes simply means the bosses have actual teeth and you need to pay attention. Instead, we have very basic and predictable mechanics that render the bosses little more than pretty target dummies. Llymlaen right/left cleaves did 1,000 damage to me, on Summoner. What even is that? Why do I even care to dodge if that's all the damage I'll take?

This was an issue I had. I have a neurological disability which makes it hit different, but regardless of that, the visual design of the bosses combined with the huge amount of player effects made it hard to see or learn new mechanics. Yes, you can turn off player effects, but many people don't know that it's even an option.

Same. I absolutely loved zero hour alliance raids because of the chaos. Eventually, things got sorted out but everyone so often you'd get a repeat if enough new players were involved. My very first on current 24 man was Weeping City, three weeks after it released and I think we had like three wipes. I was on the edge of my seat back then because, ya know, baby. I don't expect to feel that way nowadays given the experience under my belt but the chaos is still fun. Now they just feel like, well, pretty target dummies.

It would be great to have an option turning down enemy effects too, if we're going to keep getting content with over the top effects.
I can't play any Araid with player effects on, I think it must be unpleasant even for abled people.

There is 100% a place and a purpose for games that are relaxing. That's an entire genre of video games, stuff like Animal Crossing, Abzu, To the Moon, Spiritfarer.. I could go on. There are times where I enjoy those games, but that is not why I play RPGs. RPGs are, by their nature, games about conflict, about combat, about struggles. I don't need the game to kick my ass. But I am playing a character who is fighting for his life against demons, deities, eldritch abominations, and occasionally an abnormally powerful cute animal for some reason. I want to feel some amount of stakes in my performance. If I didn't want that, I would watch a movie. I'm not playing XIV so that I can watch a movie.

I get that they want content to be as accessible as possible but in an RPG, it just feels wrong that level 90 content is almost easier than level 50 content (mechanic wise, crystal tower is quite intense if it weren't for the ridiculously low hp pool these days...).

On day 2, the alliance bosses melted so fast, despite having about 8 new players that got the map achievement at the end. The final boss entered her second big-12 phase with less than 15% remaining. It just feels like they design their HP to only see that attack once it seems which is such a shame.

At this rate, running myth raids feel almost as fast as crystal tower series which is truly a shame after the peak design we had during ivalice era.
As long time FF player, I'm very tired of the condescending attitude of the devs, thinking I need to be babied at level 90 mechanics until the boss reaches like 10% -_-
