My take on what can be changed for FFXIV

I’d say the same most, but unfortunately most of the ‘discussions’ on the forums seem to be led by trolls trying to think of the most blatant, incendiary topics they can think of. Or echo chambers…
If anything the forum is simply a bust for now lol, at least until the next Fanfest or something when interest in the game returns

If you a player can notice, don't think the devs/mods themselves don't notice it too. (they have access to IPs of posters and know the name on the accounts)
just have your opinion, and thats al that matters, every game has the weird PR firm botters and RP crowd that run the forum, just let them be, they have no power.

That is a fair point, actually, with so many blatant ‘troll’ accounts they’re surely aware by now when someone being genuine or not (or at least I hope so lol). And as you say just because there are trolls and the like doesn’t mean there no point in trying to give a genuine opinion. That said, it does still feel demoralising wanting to discuss the game itself but then the whole front page of the forums is just these… Titanmen lol

The most important advice I can give any player about these forms is that if they support an idea, mention that you support it. If you do not, say that you don’t AND why, the reason can be simple or complex but please give a reason. The worst thing people can do is not speak up and we end up in another Alexander Gordias situation where a small group pushed really hard for crazy hard raids. That almost killed raiding in this game.

Be vocal, be opinionated but make sure to only get upset with an idea and not the player. Others will do that for you.

Again. It literally. Does not. Increase the maximum ilvl attainable in a given week. It solely allows those who want to swap their chosen main around to do so.

And I'm saying no. As long as you have to pay for a sub, the model should be to keep you down as long as possible for as much as possible so you don't leave quicker. If this game were F2P, then I'd say go ham. You pick a main and you stick with it. If you want to swap your main later on, well tough. Go with crafted gear and start over. Too bad.

And so you have a model that demands absolute proof of an absolute need for any suggestion to be worth posting, which basically just amounts to "There should be no suggestions." Cool.

Yup. Too many dumb and unrealistic and unachievable suggestions = nonsense that should be ignored completely.

By that idea, raids should simply give no Pages and/or have their number of chests cut in half, tomestones should likely have daily caps so that you can't cap on a Tuesday and then wait to resub until the next Monday, etc., etc.

There is absolutely a place for quality of life and a sense of available progression, not just for trying to squeeze out each extra day of time subbed.

And what the devs have given us up to this point now is good. But I will not (and people should not) deign to ask for more until the devs deem it worthy of adjusting.

If more people understood this, a lot of forum debates wouldn't be framed as 'critical of the game' vs. 'for the game'. They would be framed as 'for a specific change' vs. 'for preserving the status quo'.

If a suggestion goes against something you enjoy, you're obliged to speak out against it. Otherwise you end up with situations like what happened with Kaiten, where a stray bad take on the forums ends up needlessly influencing game design. Just stamp it out when you see it.
