Will Dawntrail Surprise Us With A Major LGBTQ+ Character In The MSQ

All the signs are pointing to Endwalker including a major LGBTQ+ character in the MSQ, if you look at the history of CBU3.

First, they allowed Same Gender Eternal Ceremony bonds.

Second, Square Enix publicly supports Black Lives Matter by donating 250 million dollars.

Third, Square Enix publicly supports the LGBTQ+ movement by making Dion Lesage a gay character in FF16. It even got banned in Saudi Arabia.



So, I Believe... The Next Movement of this symphony is an LGBTQ+ character in FF14. Because FF16 had a gay masculine-identifying character, we will probably get a Femme LGBT character, or even Trans. I think Zero may come out as Lesbian in Dawntrail.

What are your thoughts?

okay this 1 is clearly just you pushing your agenda onto peoples opinions, nobody has anything against lgbtq. but i want it to be genuine, not shoehorned in... as a pansexual i find it insulting to constantly be represented in a way that feels politically motivated and not authentic

Ryne and Gaia are assumed to be at least 16 years old, At the time of Shadowbringers the legal marrage age for women in Japan was 16. This was changed to 18 around mid 2022. However it's still possible for people to get married in Japan between 16-18 with consent of parents or legal guardian. So really there is no legal implications of their relationship regardless of your personal feelings about it.

the last time i got my hopes up about a gay being actually gay was mass effect 3 and all we got was a dude who wouldn't shut up about his dead husband and the other was a guy who you had a 50% chance of killing in the first game and would thus be screwed over.

I'm pretty sure Dion and the other guy kiss at some point. It's a bit hard to pretend it's just friends. And the in-game description states plainly they are lovers.

I don't really care - as long as they don't pat themselves on the back and have marketing campaigns around it. Like "we have a gay!" lol

I noticed the kiss, but there are cultures where people kiss instead of hug. Again, I'm not saying it's not pretty obvious. I'm more saying it's not central to his character (in the sense that he has development, traits, and a story arc besides just a gay kiss), and if some people want to headcanon he wasn't, then they can with JUUUUST enough wiggle room to do so.

Either way, the story didn't force the issue, and outside of their kiss, doesn't really make a point of telling the audience how gay Dion is and that he's so gay he's gay. It's done very organically, and if they substituted his mate for a female, no one would bat an eye and it wouldn't take from or damage his character or story. He's a good character in his own right who happens to be gay. Imo, that's the best way to make characters - of any sexuality. I'm annoyed when people make straight characters that their whole story is how straight they are. It's like "What are you compensating for here? Who are you trying to convince, me or you?" Irl gay men aren't just about who they sleep with, so why should game characters be?

Fine with most of the post except this. There really isn’t. It’s explicitly stated in the games lore files. Nothing is left to interpretation and wishful thinking.

Given that multiple members of the scions, and tbh Sharlayan in general, are way too busy with learning, books, etc, I put forth the theory that everyone is canon Aro/Ace, unless otherwise explicitly stated, and therefore the game has quite a lot of representation already, enough to make this thread redundant
