I love how OP said one thing and then just eased back into the shadows to watch you all tear each other apart.
It's amazing it seems to work exactly 100% of the time.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
i think this is them all so far
you're completly right and i hate you for it
Yall loved naked Ryne as a mechanic though. What changed?
Oh right, this time it's about LGBT stuff so it's convenient.
whoever loved that needs a serious dose of the policeYall loved naked Ryne as a mechanic though. What changed?
okay this 1 is clearly just you pushing your agenda onto peoples opinions, nobody has anything against lgbtq. but i want it to be genuine, not shoehorned in... as a pansexual i find it insulting to constantly be represented in a way that feels politically motivated and not authenticOh right, this time it's about LGBT stuff so it's convenient.
this ship is as thin as paper i swear... all they ever did was have coffe biscuits together and be friends... a stage which apparently is skipped if your deep into shipping culture enough. If we were animuu characters people would already be shipping us because im being a tsun-tsun with you

This. The best thing about Dion isn't that he was a gay man who was major character.
It's that him not being gay wouldn't really detract from his character or his story at all. He's a complete character on his own merits who just happens to have a boyfriend instead of a girlfriend or nobody at all. (Terrence being his first in command and a commoner is what makes the relationship something they need to keep a secret, not necessarily the fact that Terrence is a hunky dude. Dion has good taste though.)
I'm so glad they made a character who was integral to the plot and had his sexuality simply be a factoid about him, rather than having it be his whole personality. He's not cartoonishly foppish, and he doesn't hit on every other male character in the game. He doesn't go "ew women" or avoid them. He doesn't introduce himself to people as "Prince Dion, and btw I really like men."
If any character in Dawntrailer is LGBTQ, I hope they're treated with that same level of respect. "Gay" shouldn't be the primary defining trait of a well written character.
MOST people don't have a problem with a gay character. They have a problem with a GAY character. That is, a character whose entire story, character arc, and every appearance mentions that he's gay like your friend who just became a vegan mentioning they're a vegan at every opportunity.
A well written, complex, and interesting character with an engaging story arc can be gay, straight, bi, asexual, or whatever. It's when their sexuality is front and center, to the point of stepping all over any character they otherwise have, that it ruins them. This is true of any ideological or political or religion based characters. These things being a part of a character is fine, and good when done well, but this being THEIR ENTIRE character is near universally reviled and they become a "token X" character that isn't in the story to be a part of it, they're in a story to rub people's faces in it.
Even in the case of Dion, more prudish people could pretend they were "just really good friends". The game never outright insists that they ARE gay, we don't see them sleeping together, and Dion doesn't make him being gay central to the plot. It isn't even mentioned by his father ("Your litter brother is now emperor because I know you won't give me an heir because you love men!" or the like). It's treated as an aspect of his character, not his whole character. Just like in real life, gay men are more than just "I sleep with other dudes". FF16's writers got that right with Dion, and made him an overall good character who's also a badass. Him being gay is just part of his character, not an overpowering entirety of it.
EDIT:
Oh, btw, this is also true of all other sexualities, too. No one wants to see a straight couple mentioning how they're straight and sucking face in every cutscene.
Also also: Yes, yes, I know who OP is. Doesn't change the above.![]()

What bait? I didn’t even say I care about this ship. But for some the story ending with a huge rainbow crystal was on the nose. It’s enough to speculate and I could take it or leave it.what romantic plot.. all they did was have cookies together.. gaia outright hated her for half the story... is the line between friendship and relationship this paper thin for this ship?
also theyre teenagers, i am sorry but i am NOT interested in little girls getting together and dating, and i think its disturbing if you are clinging to this ship for that
im also insulted you compared one of the greatest romantic tragedys ever written to this ship... i wont even say anything else on that point.
you know what, more fool me i fell for the obvious bait
I more had a problem with you thinking anyone innocently discussing a relationship in a narrative has issues, when it’s more you who has issues as you wrote.
Let's brag about our sexuality, apparently it's the only valuable trait people have nowdays.
I know you didn't ask for it
But i'm gonna be entitled like the rest here and force it in your face:
I'm Straight/Heterosexual
☆SCH/AST/DNC/VPR/SMN☆
I'm not pushing my agenda on anybody, it's just exhausting how often we have to hear this same thing all the time but only when it's either two girls or two boys. It's like clockwork.whoever loved that needs a serious dose of the police

I'm pretty sure Dion and the other guy kiss at some point. It's a bit hard to pretend it's just friends. And the in-game description states plainly they are lovers.

I don't really care - as long as they don't pat themselves on the back and have marketing campaigns around it. Like "we have a gay!" lol
