If we get yshtolas hair I will die happy. The one shown looks eh....off, bc the braid goes through the ears. Ofc...After the 2B hair looking as it does I wasnt really expecting much (yet still a bit disappointed lol). I will see if I can find my female list.

I wonder if the braid will be missing between the ears like the hairband on the 2B hair or if they just left it alone this time.

I looked at the picture on my phone, so I may be wrong, but I think they edited out the braid on top.

I'm kinda iffy about getting the hairstyle because of the braid. I was really hoping for Gyr Abanian Plait instead, but oh well.

Here's hoping we get Y'sthola's and Thancred's hairs.

I tried zooming in to get a better look as well but it's difficult to see because of the angle. If it has actually been removed I wonder why, the braid already goes under the ears from the sides so removing it between the ears doesn't hide anything. Is there some invisible texture between the ears that necessitates adjusting the hairstyle like that?

Gyr Abanian Plait might still be included though, they add around 6 every patch but only showcase one or two in the patch notes.

I guess they wanted to make it look like the hair is braided on the sides? Hopefully, there isn't a weird crease on top like in the 2b hair, but it most likely is there.

I know they wouldn't make wild adjustments to the hair for Viera alone, but would it have been possible to put the braid in front of the ears somehow? I'm not a mesher, so this is coming from a total laywoman.

Form and Function looks as good as I would have hoped, to be honest? They did their best with what they had to work with - at least they bothered to edit it and didn't leave the braid fully clipping under the ears. If they completely removed the braid it wouldn't even be the same hairstyle. Looks like they started with the Miq'ote model of the hair, deleted the braid between the ear area and added even more floof to the sides of the head in an attempt to make the remaining braided areas look as natural as possible. It's not perfect, but it's acceptable enough and doesn't particularly stand out unless you're really anal about this kind of thing. At least the bangs are pretty and flattering. People will get a lot of use out of this one for sure.



On the Hroth side of things these two look awesome, especially the ponytail on the left. It really suits this race. Hrothgar W this patch.

3D modeller here! From what I have seen of this hairstyle it is made as 1 unit, which means the mesh has been baked to be a lower poly mesh. You do this by "baking" a high poly mesh with a low poly one, this will give the mesh the same amount of polygons as the low poly version while keeping the look of the higher poly mesh. The upside of this technique is that it causes a minimum amount of strain on the program to render it, the downside however is that it is a bee with an itch to modify or edit it afterwards. I don't know when exactly this hairstyle was added, but I know that I do not envy the person who had to go through the files just to find the hairstyle 3D file, un-bake it, do the edits necessary and then bake it again.

There will be 4 more that are not shown here. Patch notes always show 2 without exception and there are always 4 more unannounced styles slipped in. Hrothgar are getting the 6 styles from Viera's 6.3 patch which included: Adventure, Styled for Hire, Saintly Style, default selection high ponytail from the notes and two similar looking short styles.

I do not have the comparison image for Hrothgar. Someone else took this image to begin with from the Miq'ote male selection. Hrothgar are 2 patches behind Viera in hairstyle updates.

No news on headgear, but this isn't the place it would be announced anyway. These are just standard patch notes. With how big of an update it would be I expect headgear to be something touched upon at the EU or JP fanfests as part of the Dawntrail media tour. That's if you want to get on the copium train that'll probably lead in the direction of disappointment. I'm optimistic that the announcement could come with female Hrothgar at EU fanfest but prepared for the news that they aren't tackling it anytime soon.
