Should the devs appologise to the community

We knew before EW launched that there was no exploration content tied to the relic this time. Honestly, after we found out the second step was going to be another 1500 tome step we knew that relics were going to be pretty tomestone weapons this expansion instead of something you work towards achieving. You can disagree with SE's mindset towards this, God knows I do, but they have followed through on what they said we were getting this expansion for better or worse.

i mean weve been unhappy with it from the start, not sure what the point of the reply is meant to make. weve never supported it. its now that 6 months has passed, players anger is finally getting louder. i guess because its getting harder for people to yell over them or tell them to touch grass

Friend of mine had a baby in February. She still managed to catch up recently on just about everything except raids, which she retired from given the circumstances. She's spending more time on a second character than her main because there's that little for her to do.

this games early game is great. theres so much to do, so much leveling, exploring, quests. but its not right to have to restart the game just to enjoy it...

so we did actually get a 4gamer interview with a really concerning statement in it, and on the note of unsubbing, honestly.. if this is the stance they continue to take. i actually WILL be

This is basically me now, I adopted my nephew, my son was born and am pregnant with a daughter on the way in February. I haven’t actively done much in the way of anything since shadowbringers really and even I’ve managed to stay caught up and purposely was waiting to let multiple patches pass before I play so I feel I have something to do and yes I still manage to be bored when I log on. I’ve found myself just turning to playing Horizon instead (XI private server)

I've been toying with this question in my mind basically since around 6.2 when it became obvious this game was'nt going to deliver any real of meaningful change.. seeing the clear nature of the cash shop and the exploitation in the games current content output vs what we pay our sub for, anbd ofcourse that 7.0 will be a min of 6months between patches of basically... nothing...

should the developers appologise for the state of the game?

and if not... what level of accountability SHOULD we hold them to? if any..

They've apologized for lesser things, so at least trying to make amends given the current circumstances wouldn't go unappreciated. However, it is unclear whether or not the will to do so exists. They seem to be actively looking at data and drawing wrong conclusions from it, like with the Hildibrand relic situation. Like yeah, a lot of people may have done the relic because its literally just tomes but that completion rate doesn't tell you anything about how bored players feel about it. For feedback like that they'd have to look at places like say the forums instead.

Overall I would like them to spend the necessary time to course correct the mistakes they made in Endwalker when it comes to content quality. There is no greater apology than actions as opposed to words. The playerbase deserved better than Criterion, Eureka Orthos, and Hildibrand relics. Not to mention how Island Sanctuary turned out when people just wanted actual instanced housing for the past decade. At this point the issue is not people being unclear about their feedback, stuff like how they looked at data like the above shows that there is something going on when it comes to the analysis part of the feedback loop.

Some parts of it also just don't make sense like how "young players want to get things quickly otherwise they won't bother" or something along those lines that isn't true. But then that also has more to deal with this underlying philosophy at work that FFXIV shouldn't even try to compete for my time when in fact it should try to a healthy degree like in previous expansions. It just feels like they forgot who they were making the game for, because neither rpg nor mmorpg players seem to be happy with the way things are.

The only people who seem content and appear to be the target of these changes are these new players who are extremely quick to try and debate those of us veterans who've been around longer with all number of takes and arguments that show how they don't understand our situation and how we feel about the state of the game.

Personally, I think an apology at this point would be cheap and worthless. I want to see them acknowledge the issues and admit that they may have messed up. I want to see them stop focusing everything into getting new players and actually start caring about the people who helped their fledgling MMO grow big and successful from the beginning. I want to see them send surveys to everyone who started the game during ARR, HW and SB, then they need to actually take that survey data seriously and implement things to retain the veterans again.

Wrong. theres less. what new content was added has no longevity and is overstreched.

Wrong. the easier the relics get the more players feel disconnected from the real sense of scale and achievment of gathering them. BIS weapons should be better than savage for a fraction of the effort

WRONG. the jobs rn are lacking in effort and creativty. theyre stale boaring and repetitive. most people arent enjoying the combat.

As Aveyond said they think it's a success on their end because of the "engagement" with more people having relics and that they are drawing the wrong conclusion from that. Why would they feel the need to apologize for something they probably think is very successful?

i would honestly suggest you read some of the other threads in this forum, for example for 6.5 interview. you will not see a happy playerbase. i assure you, ITS NOT JUST ME
