yeah pretty much all of what you said hit the nail on the head, also i like your suggestions.. heres to hoping they actuallly do something like that.To talk about this from a PvP pov since this is where I found this post, there isn't really a whole lot you can do to make "midcore" content in PvP. The best I can think of is low/mid tier ranked CC, but that mostly just has the issue of not having enough players sustained over an entire patch cycle. The best I can think of to help the mode is to just make the Augmented Hellhound weapons able to be obtainable by lower ranked players, albeit at a slower pace than higher ranked players, just so people can least do seasonal placements to keep it active. This is prolly isn't the sole solution to make it more open ended to midcore players but its just one idea I think would be good.
I also kind of want to say that the meta achievements for the 100/300 wins for all the pvp modes is technically midcore content as well? At least if you want to grind out for them and not just passivly farm for them casually. I just say it because your still doing the "casual" content but your trying to win at a consistent rate. It's prolly a stretch to say this since your still doing the casual modes but as a player within that bracket of a midcore player and I thought grinding out for the Rival Wings mount or the Seal Rock Commander Coat by doing callouts was pretty good.
Also on the subject of just the game overall, Criterion would've been perfect place to have midcore content with how accessible it's design is inherently. But they decided to make the fights as hard as some extreme/savage/early ultimate phases and reward you with a peasants meal in terms of reward quality. Literally the biggest waste of dev time out of all the content this expansion has had.

I don't mind there being savage difficulty dungeons to do, but there really should have been a difficulty between variant and criterion, I did variant one time, was bored out of my skull just doing the one, haven't touched it since, serious letdown.

You lose nothing by swapping GC. You start at recruit rank in the new one (unless you were already there before, then you go back to your old rank), and the GC squad follows you.

They do have criterion savage, but its the exact same thing as normal except you don't get raises. I felt like if they made it harder than normal criterion they could've had multiple levels of difficulty for every kind of player.

Savage criterion is kinda just mythic + from wow, mutation you get is just always the same and is no res.
But there really should have been bozja raid level difficulty criterion, I always thought Bozja raids were a pretty good step up from regular raids, but not to the extend of savage, which is fantastic for midcore content.

Ex criterion should have been just a regular casual dungeon, but with a bit more difficulty akin to storymode raids imo. I'd have liked actually seeing it into expert roulette, but that would be too complicated in difficulty, so perhaps raids? Too different? Its own roulette? Too many roulettes?

I always thought if it had a weekly lockout for loot or something, it could rotate between different routes as its form of different affixes. Or let you actually choose the effects that a dungeon has with the interactable in the dungeon like you do in variant. Also you bringing up Bozja reminds me of how they could implement more variant actions for gameplay stuff, but with how its currently designed idk how they would implement more.Savage criterion is kinda just mythic + from wow, mutation you get is just always the same and is no res.

Don't think they can fit anywhere because of how its designed so differently from every other piece of content. It's a completely different content island that I don't think it can fit anywhere with the rest of the game with how its currently designed.Ex criterion should have been just a regular casual dungeon, but with a bit more difficulty akin to storymode raids imo.
