I liked the beta version of adventure plates, but then they released the "full" version and made them a clunky mess that breaks if you so much as hide a ring.I think XIV always tried new things one could consider "experimental" - the difference why they feel more experimental now is because most of these feel like failures.
I obviously like XIV, but the new EW systems are mostly duds to me.
Only thing I really like are adventure plates.

They can be frustrating but I like them enough to deal with them. I wish they just auto-updated as you changed outfits, or at the very least still worked as you made them even if you changed outfits.
The portraits that show up in duties do break and need to be regenerated whenever you change your gear set, but the plate itself doesn’t. They are a lot more static and don’t need to be updated every time.
The only penalty there is that the duty portrait will show up as the default basic pose, so nbd.
