I feel like saying there isn't a hook is just subjective. The WoL isn't going to some island vacation just to go on an island vacation. We're taking part in a competition for a throne, whether we've been invited directly or we're the plus one for maybe an Archon's invitation (though we don't know yet if that isn't something entirely different).

People can find that not personally interesting but there is a hook. We don't know much about it yet and given what we've already seen in this game, we'll get more hooks once we see the full trailer.
