I think in general, while time can be a factor, it is difficulty that is the core determinant. Casual content excludes difficulty past a certain level - but casuals can be fine meandering at their own pace on easy content and long-goals that they can work towards over months/years of logging in randomly if they are so inclined. Casual content doesn't expect a lot from the player in regards to skill levels or extensive game knowledge.

Of course, you could view someone as hardcore who is online 24/7 but only does basic casual content. But I'd just view such person as a casual player with a lot of free time lol.

I think also there is expectations that people have for certain content that the designs for such things just don't offer skewing the difficulty for a lot of people.

For me personally, I don't see how Savage/EX are even considered hardcore content when they don't do anything other than DDR fights. Instant deaths, and loads of avoidable mechanics don't really make things hard for tanks/healers outside of when to do the DPS rotation, how to have uptime.

That's great for DPS players to have that depth of play, but what about everyone else? There's not really much to test your skills as a tank/healer main (maybe Ultimate?) once you get to a certain skill level so everything feels as if it is midcore at best or in the rare instances just shy of hardcore.

I'm tired of being told to wait for post-patches and expansions for fixes and increased healing requirements that are never coming. Healers are not fun in all forms of content like all jobs should be, they're replaced by tanks and dps due to low healing requirements and their dps kit is small for 0 reason, when in the past we had more options and handled things just fine. I refuse to play healer in roulette come DT. I refuse to heal EXs, I refuse to go into Savage, and I am boycotting Ultimate.

Any content in FF can be midcore in any case as it gets pugged, while WoW's mythic raiding cant get pugged for example, FF can and is being pugged every day, hell even ultimates are getting pugged every day, so it can be considered midcore to a very good extent, you dont even need a schedule for it either as you can just jump in a PF and start doing it.

Ultimates don't particularly test your skill as a tank or healer, either.

There are phases of certain encounters that do offer challenges to the actual roles there, but generally you just do the same dance or a slightly different dance as the folks in red if you're wearing blue or green.

If something happens to be a challenge for a particular role compared to others anymore, it's usually a fluke and not intentional design, kinda like how MNK used to keep getting screwed over by long boss downtime and forced cutscenes until they just got rid of Greased Lightning as a buff.

They don't design encounters to be offer unique challenges for any roles like say maybe Garuda Ex was for tanks or Ifrit Ex was for healers, and going so far as to make 24 mans, with the safety net of 3 tanks and at least 6 rezzers, have mechanics with no more complexity than non-optional dungeon bosses from 6 years ago.

The cultists are right. We need less topics talking about content creators and streamers criticizing FFXIV and more topics whining about why you can't glamour like your new favorite MSQ character or posting stupid creep pictures of catgirls. That's a lot more interesting for a message board.

Or you could just simply not believe we need 4 Zepla threads on page 1 of the general forums, and entirely new threads every time she opens her mouth (though...only if she is critical).

And the "stupid creep" thread was just the same OP as we have here on an alt account.

You can be unsupportive of both - I was. It's not one or the other.

The irony is...you saying this stuff is just being passive aggressive. It's no better than the apparent toxic positivity you hate so much. For those in the back, no one here has any real issue with the criticisms Zepla gave. They have an issue with multiple thread chronicling every word she says (that just so happens to affirm a particular "groups" opinions). I wouldnt want to see multiple threads of the same content creator praising the game either, yet no you just default to "toxic positivity". Ie buzzword buzzword buzzword, and no substance. If someone made a post every day saying "FFXIV is great rn" yall would say the exact same thing. "Why so many threads of the same thing".

What's also strange is the poster you quoted often replies flippantly with "no one cares" "no one asked", "waaah waaah waah" and other such tactics when they don't like a topic.

You're the only one, along with Jojoya, on the forums to have told people to literally leave the forums. You really are in no position to lecture anyone about toxicity.
