I'll just take the chance to drop this here... The FFXIV subreddit has such an obsession with Y'shtola and Graha'Tia it made me dislike the characters, especially knowing the team behind the story send to know this and try to pander said audience (at least, that's the impression I get).

There's also a lot of Alphinaud and Alisaie simping, but the moment anyone mentions Ryne they take the pitchforks out despite them being the same age.

Myers Briggs is not a real thing, it's not scientific.

Come to think of it, I remember science disproved personality types and that you are just different, probably depending on who you talk to or have talked to, your environment, how you are feeling or how you want to act. Or sometimes you are like titanmen and roleplaying.

But I think there are common hormonal factors that play a role in behaviour regardless and an obvious example is pheromones, and these factors vary for people, sometimes from hour-to-hour or day-to-day as well.

"Breaking character"? What does that even mean? Having similar personality types =/= same person. And not everyone who has the same personality type is going to be exactly the same. It's almost as if life experiences, trauma, world views, ect differ depending on the person, creating different spectrums. It's just a guide to determine which segment one falls into.

And for the record he certainly did talk similarly to people he dislikes. I recently replayed the story from start to finish, maybe you should do the same?

I don't think "relatable" has to mean "I know someone in real life who is like this." There are plenty of awful people out there in the real world that I cannot relate to at all. And on the flip side, I don't know anyone with goals even remotely similar to Emet-Selch's, but his motivations are relatable.

I think Alphinaud and Galphinaud have become very relatable over the expansions. G'raha's

psychological "merger" is a bit tough to get my head around because it's such a surreal concept, but I totally get why he is the way he is. He was sort of cheated out of a life being the Crystal Exarch. He wanted so much to be himself and go on adventures but was basically chained to his mission and grim responsibility. He miraculously got a second chance to be a little more carefree and a LOT more actually free, not to mention physically younger and more full of energy. He's giddy about being able to enjoy life, enjoy being in the world he helped save, and bask in all its glory. And yeah, that comes all the way down to the little things like enjoying a giant hamburger or a taco or something.

While I like Y'shtola, I agree that she seems less developed than some of the other cast. Part of that is by design, because while she's not a cold person by any means she does act rather guarded and distant, like she's on constant alert to keep her cool. She's just like

Matoya that way, who we know has a tender heart buried deep under her tough exterior. I hope we get to see some more emotion from her in the future, she needs a dramatic moment like Urianger's phenomenal scene in Endwalker with Moenbryda's parents. That was a 10/10. Maybe she'll finally get to go back to the First and see Runar again? She 100% loves that guy, but can't even admit that to herself much less anyone else.
