Zepla: Endwalker is the Worst FFXIV Expansion I have played

People here have long shared in those opinions - about what they believe is currently going wrong with the game - beforehand. You need only read the forum before the video came up to find this out. It's not exactly hard to do just that. They're happy that she put this video out because she has much more reach than any single forum poster has and because she's expressing, at least in part, shared concerns. This idea that people are just agreeing with her because she said something, and not because they think she's saying something which they believe is true, is rather farcical, if I'm honest.

Why are people putting so much stock in the opinions of a clickbait content creator?
At the start of Endwalker it was "FFXIV is so good WoW is so bad" because that sold clicks and views, WoW was in a slump in their patch cycle and xiv had a new expansion. Now it's flipped so all the content creators are flipping it around about how they hate xiv now.
In a year they will make videos about how "Dawntrail did it, how I came back to XIV" and people will eat that slop up like crazy.

Sometimes I have to wonder with the posts on here if people are actually forming their own opinion or are just regurgitating what they hear a streamer say for views and clout.

If you read the forum over the past month (at least since 6.3 release, that's when the mask fell off), the critics done in this video have been daily brought in the forum, but there was always people to say they were "haters" or "they were a vocal minority". Of course people "rally" behind someone whose words have far more weight than theirs when she says exactly what they've been saying for month. At this point, I wish people would admit that a significant part of the players share that feeling (I'm not saying it's a majority, but it's not a few vocal people anymore).

Most people that complain agree that 6.0 was good storywise, but since then we had all the patches, and we saw how it was since then. (Most of) New content is not bad, it just doesn't have longevity, and a lot of people that are there for the mmo experience feel something is wrong. I would even argue that the a lot of people complain because EW patch cycle suffers when compared... to ShB patch cycle. It's not even about comparing with other game, it's about comparing the game with its former self.

I think some of the people here who think too much negativity is a bad thing do need to watch the video linked and understand this very important point that Zepla made. The biggest danger to a game isn't criticism or negativity, it's apathy. If you're getting a lot of criticism or negative attention, it means people still care, but it's very easy for someone who no longer cares about the game to just stop one day and never come back.

I prefer the Endwalker content that we've been getting, it's better and more plentiful than in Shadowbringers, but it has less arbitrary grinding, which is definitely a win-win.
Especially when there's such a backlog of content that new players can basically never catch up in side content, having the new side content no require you to spend hours a day grinding to cap this or grind out completions of this fate over and over is a net positive. Those things in MMOs just existed to artificially pad out the life of content, not necesarily make it better.
I'd rather have a patch that gives short, good content that lets me go back to older content like old extremes, savages, or even try out ultimates, than have new patches where if I miss grinding fates for that week I am not entirely behind everyone else and can't catch back up.

But apparently that's the minority, most people around the forums would rather have the game force them into a 4 hour a day grind for specific fates or CEs in a special zone to keep up with the rest of the players than be able to make their own fun by playing stuff they enjoy in the game.

Speaking the truth? They litterally add in content just rigth after it has been published and even ending showing pictures of items in live, that you can't obtain on day one of release... no I am not going to simp over those so called streamers, they offer next to nothing, if you look over stuff that is.

Give us personalities like Maidy kind of did it, if anything.. as in right now it is self absorped pompous BS with the current ones.

That isn't the case. I didn't intend to pull the 'I've been here longer than you...' card but, uh, yeah...I've been posting consistently around these parts for roughly a decade and I've seen a lot of posters here who are critical of the game consistently leave feedback long before some of FFXIV's content creators decided to speak out.

I think the problem is they thought we’d spend this time on our Islands instead, but Islands are isolating and not community activities for the most part. Also to me dull and uninteresting for an MMO compared to Bozja or reconstruction.

So I think they did try some experimental content, it just fell flat on its face for a lot of players.
