It's not a secret. Vets who were here since the beginning can verify that they tried to implement dressers and it caused massive server crashes.

I have never found this statement from SE where it was said the servers would crash. They never specified what the resulting issue was, it could easily just be an item dupe. That thread doesn't link to one either. It has the same previous quote from 6 years ago and one of the more credible community devs saying the same thing I already did as well.

Easy solution, imho:

1) Add the private-room door to all houses (FC or Solo); maybe put it at the top of the stairwell in S houses.
2) Make a "Dressing Room" or Powder Room or whatever, where you go to what is essentially an instanced, undecorable (is that a word?) room with the glamour dresser, armoire, retainer bell and maybe FC chest.
3) Profit.

I don't remember the problem of it, but it was either A) more then 1 person using it at once (solved by instanced room) or B) Moving it while in use (solved by making the instanced room non-decorate-able)

No. They tried working on one, but if it gets interacted with in the wrong ways by two different people (e.g. one person is using it, and then another person moves it around), it would crash the entire server. Note, this is not crashing just the housing server, it would take the ENTIRE server down.

Imagine one person goofs up (or some people intentionally troll with it) and boots EVERYONE off of Siren or Coeurl or something because they used the glamour dresser incorrectly. That, right there, is why we don't have a glamour chest housing item.
