kids today think the only reason to do something is for the loot at the end Asiaine.. you're wasting your breath lol.. If they could just cast a spell and have all the loot in the game they'd rather do that, than ya know actually have to play it.

darklight is the best gear in the game right now. drop rate's fine. I still haven't gotten a single piece, but drop rate if okay as it is.
three or four times a week is very little. is what you should do per run, I'd say.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but come on man, if you play less, you'll have less chances at getting drops than a guy who plays more. you're going for the best piece of equipment in the game... you could go for coffer drops or whatever, those have a fairly decent high drop rate and they are very good armor.
Dear Square-Enix,
I noticed during one of my many dungeon runs that the item with a low drop rate doesn't appear as often as I'd like. There seems to be something wrong with the the random number generator.
Please fix your game to make it to where I get what I want, when I want it.
Thank you.

I'm a casual player (GASP!!), so I doubt I'll ever have any of the Darklight stuff. I understand that because of the playtime I choose to put in to the game, I won't have the best stuff. I feel that some stuff just shouldn't be obtained all that easily. That's part of what makes end-game end-game.

You misread his post and are off by a factor of 7.
I would say doing 3-4 clears a day is a respectable amount of effort. He deserves more than a "lol it's supposed to be rare" response. Rarity through randomness is simply poor design. Gear should not be a lottery. The fact is, the only way to remove the odds and actually give yourself a good chance of getting what you want, is to do this content hundreds upon hundreds of times. To put it in perspective, you could play through every other numbered offline Final Fantasy game in less time than you'll spend in FF14 doing the same ~40 minutes (20 per dungeon) of content over and over again. I'm sure you think that's peachy, but please, come back on your 200th grind clear and tell me you still like this drop system. Until then, you don't understand.to sum-up, i have been getting 3-4 wins everyday for the last couple of weeks and have nothing to show for it.
Then make the content harder and make it less accessible than the 10-15 times a day most hardcore LSes are farming it.

Why should the best gear in the game be as common as Cobalt Haubergeons?
Besides the point, you can make these Haubergeons pretty powerful if you sink time into those instead. It's called materia and it's also a lottery..
The Hammer is a solution to everything.
Going for Darklight is a gamble, like playing the lottery.
Some people have been playing the lottery for 10...20....40 years or more with nothing to show for it.
What makes them/us keep playing/raiding over and over? It really comes down to hope.
Those who complain have lost hope for the time being. Those who continue to press on have hope the reward is still within reach.
There's something to be said about hope, be it positive or delusional. The pursuit of Darklight reminds me of how "hope" was explained in FFX.
"Hope is comforting. It allows us to accept fate, no matter how tragic it might be."
"....It is better to die in hope than to live in despair...."

One does not simply quote FFX.Going for Darklight is a gamble, like playing the lottery.

hold on... you people are saying that doing 3-5 hours every single day for the last 2 weeks i shouldnt expect any reward?
this really doesnt make a difference because if this is the way it is i eventually will just stop logging on.
i dont know how anyone can find doing the same thing 200 times fun, regardless of reward. sorry what a load of bollocks.
There are some slotted pieces with materia that are better then DL. For the amount of times you have to mindlessly clear a dungeon, the DL could be a lot better.
We have done 14 speed runs in a row the past 2 nights to see nothing drop. Probably 200 clears since the patch and have seen 8 drops.
My problem is not with the absurdly low drop rate, but the fact you have to do the same mindless boring dungeons over and over to get a piece. (forget a set)
First it was kill Ifrit 200 times to get the weapon you want.
Next it was kill Moogle 200 times to get the weapon you want.
Clear AV/CC 1000 times to get the armor piece you want.
This kills the casual gamer. Either your hardcore and find a shell to run it night after night or you stand no shot at the 1/100 chance that you will see a drop.
I guess this is fun, but what do you expect when they are focusing on 2.0 and SE's idea of "hard content" is a crazy low drop rate.
What amazes me the most is that everyone falls for their ruse. You guys (me included) will all kill Garuda 200 times to get that weapon you want. I guess content = doing a dungeon/boss till your eyes bleed.
The part that is really going to upset me is when they put in achievements for clearing each dungeon 1000 times but start the counter over at 0~
