    I really miss the old THM that actually made sense in context of the THM storyline. I miss Astral/Umbral elements. I miss having access to the entire elemental wheel on CNJ. The way they distributed skills on the two classes seems like a really pathetic attempt to justify giving them the jobs they did.

    I have no doubt that people love the damage THM/BLM can do now, I love it too, but it doesn't mean the skills they were given make a damn bit of sense.

    Though come to think of it, THM was just as good a magical DD with it's old nukes...

    I'm not the one saying differently, after all I did say they messed up (if you had read my previous post, you would know). I've merely helped point out the irony that despite CNJ being the Elementalist, really isn't.
    Something you have ti let go I'm positive that Se is gonna change the lore for both classes come 2.0 no point in doing it now. also cnj Worships the elements and speak to them that does not make them Elementalist, Also the lore says both classes can harness the power of all the elements. If you ever done the THM quest it was never given off to be an "Light" Class, it was all about, dealing with death, The thm powers player uses are the ones who worship death not life. That why THM was the correct blm choice.

    THM dealt with both Life (Lightness) and Death (Darkness), not just death.

    There are actually 2 Thaumaturge guilds....
    Arrzaneth Ossuary in western Ul'dah, in which an ossuary is essentially a "funeral home"
    Milvaneth Sacrarium in southeastern Ul'dah, a sacrarium being the drain part of basin used to wash off holy or "sacred" items, hence the name.
    In the game... thaumaturges mend the balance between life and death

    The term "Thaumaturge" is closely tied with saints and the workings of miracles throughout history

    one thing you have to consider is if they planned to change the lore they would have started it with the job quests. in none of the blm quests do i recall seeing anything with the elements. it was astral and umbral related even in the new quests that were put into the game. i doubt they put the quests in just to completely change then in less than a year from now.

    Scourge/Banish always felt like they belonged to a RDM or something...so when they decided THM was going to be BLM, I'm not surprised they got axed. Mobs still use these spells, though, so I wouldn't doubt that they will make a re appearance.

    And guys...they're redesigning the game...classes and the idea behind a class's role are going to be a little different now than the dev's original vision. To argue that one class/job 'should' be this way or that for whatever reason is pointless... (it's also already been done better in other threads)

    I do miss blood rite though :X

    shadow sear was awesome, I love the animation for it(and the sound). Now i just have 3 different thunders that all look the same to me.
