They deliberately choose to be "offended" in hopes of getting internet fame.Am I the only one who want fantasy to be ... fantasy? I don't want "real" world in my fantasy, or at least, I don't consider that a requirement to enjoy my fantasy game.
This kind of think is what make me wonder "are people being offended, or they're seeking to offend?".
Forum users and twitter. Should browse more. Or dont for your sanity. There was already topics about portraying them accurately. People worry way too much about rl topics in a fictional rpg game.Jfc, who actually talks like this:
Livvy, a player who describes FF14’s politics as “at times great and at other times extremely harmful,” feels that the messaging leans into colonialist tropes, especially with the juxtaposition of a tense political conflict with a summer vacation concept. She says she hopes “for a respectful portrayal of the Latin American and Indigenous representation we've seen so far,” as well as that Creative Business Unit III is engaging with consultants from these communities to be sure they’re creating “an experience that all Warriors of Light, but especially people from the cultures being represented, can feel at home in.”
I feel bad and sorry how that stupid pandemic ruined possibly the best physical fanfest opportunity for the game to celebrate the conclusion of the decade-long arc.
Theodric, we can Prevent all nonsense, assumptions, and "Insinuations" if you just speak Plainly.
Make it clear from the start, dont just act like and assume people know what you mean.
less looting, less politics everywhere, less crime, stable economy, safe communities, little/no inflation. that's normalcy and if you are against that, are you pro chaos or something. Its a very odd hill to die on.

I agree. It's also the sort of agenda that really strips away a lot of what makes fantasy settings interesting. It's not the real world and I think it's absolutely fine if the game touches on darker aspects of humanity - fictional or otherwise. Sanitising a setting to strip it of anything morally dubious or unpleasant simply serves to make very boring. I quite liked the grit present in the days of ARR when all the city states were selfish and flawed in their own unique ways and the main cast weren't spewing talking points that happen to align with students speaking at a modern day university.
I also don't know how to "respectfully" represent ancient cultures that offered human sacrifices to the gods and ate each other. And I doubt any of those things will be seen ingame anyway, as it is not the real life culture the game will represent; it just takes some inspiration from it, that's it.
Regardless, I'm sure people will be offended the very moment that any "evil" character appears, or if any of these beast tribes have any sort of questionable custom. Not sure what kind of super happy story people want to see, but it's sad to see SE's creative hands tied down.

I would say that it begins with not treating one gory ancient custom as the only fact that exists about an entire culture, or all of us are probably equally guilty of something our ancestors did.I also don't know how to "respectfully" represent ancient cultures that offered human sacrifices to the gods and ate each other. And I doubt any of those things will be seen ingame anyway, as it is not the real life culture the game will represent; it just takes some inspiration from it, that's it.
IGN, Kotatku, Vandal... There is not a single game journalism place that is not a random flood of stupidity?
>respect l*tinx culture!!!11
>haha florida is stupid and everybody from florida is stupid and florida just has a stupid culture!!1!!
And you wonder why nobody takes you people seriously.
