Was it IGN that had the DOOM gameplay video that caused the hilarious uproar?

Didn't ign have that guy that couldn't complete the cuphead tutorial either. that was comedy gold, too. 10 years is generous, under the assumption a new mmo doesn't have massive hype and crush ff14 completely.

I'm going to enjoy it for what it is. If this is the last hurrah for FFXIV, as far as large content adds such as the previous expansions, then so be it. I don't expect to play this game 24/7 to the exclusion of everything else.
I mean it makes sense that not everyone talks like this. Some people have never had the opportunity to learn about those things, and some wouldn't be interested even if they did. Different strokes for different folks.Jfc, who actually talks like this:
Livvy, a player who describes FF14’s politics as “at times great and at other times extremely harmful,” feels that the messaging leans into colonialist tropes, especially with the juxtaposition of a tense political conflict with a summer vacation concept. She says she hopes “for a respectful portrayal of the Latin American and Indigenous representation we've seen so far,” as well as that Creative Business Unit III is engaging with consultants from these communities to be sure they’re creating “an experience that all Warriors of Light, but especially people from the cultures being represented, can feel at home in.”
But it also makes perfect sense that some people do. It's the stuff of literary analysis and sociology, and some people dig that sort of thing. A conversation like that isn't in any way exceptional among the folks I tend to enjoy FF14 with.
Oh so when Graha eats a taco it's cute and kawaii but when I do it I'm a colonial oppressor maintaining a system of white supremacy and patriarchy. I'm sick and tired of these literal nobodies getting offended on behalf of entire populations they can't speak the language of or nations they've never been to. This is a fantasy video game. The settings might be loosely derived and/or inspired from the real world, but it isn't the real world. If these talking heads on Twitter want to experience TRUE and HONEST South American culture, maybe they should go backpacking around Brazil for a while. Terminally online losers with nothing better to do than whinge and moan about perceived injustices they don't know anything about.

Just because it's not a subject you don't like doesn't mean others won't bring it up; your opinion is no more important than anyone else's.
We dont have enough info with dawntrail outside of fanfest NA, better just relax and wait.

Am I the only one who want fantasy to be ... fantasy? I don't want "real" world in my fantasy, or at least, I don't consider that a requirement to enjoy my fantasy game.
This kind of think is what make me wonder "are people being offended, or they're seeking to offend?".
why though. a number of the people in this forum would prefer to be offended and pull doom or excitement out of thin air.
more drama to be had in pure conjecture than waiting for actual facts. relaxing and waiting to see what is actually going to be released is not in fashion these days, and not just in FF14
I think that it's largely a grift at this point - especially when the concerns over cultural portrayals are often very one sided. The company benefits immensely from giving lip service to these people to keep them off of their backs and gets to tap into ESG funds for good measure.I mean it makes sense that not everyone talks like this. It matters not how well or how badly 'exotic' cultures are portrayed. Pleasing their ilk is exceptionally hard because the goalposts will inevitably be moved.
It's also the sort of agenda that really strips away a lot of what makes fantasy settings interesting. It's not the real world and I think it's absolutely fine if the game touches on darker aspects of humanity - fictional or otherwise. Sanitising a setting to strip it of anything morally dubious or unpleasant simply serves to make very boring. I quite liked the grit present in the days of ARR when all the city states were selfish and flawed in their own unique ways and the main cast weren't spewing talking points that happen to align with students speaking at a modern day university.
