I can tell judging by the people here trying to justify thisMy friend you have poked the hornets nest of Submarine bots, and housing sellers.
It's clear what the Submarine farmers are doing. I've seen their schemes countless times. They buy the plot, they farm gil from the submarines, and when the plot becomes desirable they flip it for either RMT or a ridiculous sum of gil. It takes little effort for them to start their operations back up again on another plot they can accquire elsewhere. Don't even try explaining it to some of the people here, who have secondary interests and argue in bad faith.I had to block some trolls like Stormpeaks cause it was pointless to discuss with that person.
I hope something gets changed with this, that's what the forums are for - to bring up issues with the game ^^
It's not as simple as "Just go buy a house." There is decent competition on Large/Medium plots across most wards on our server, most of them with 8+ bids even in goblet. (This doesn't sound like much if you're on an older server, but for us thats a notable increase.) With the announcement of Xbox integration, and 7.0's player boom heading to Dynamis people have had their eyes on our housing for awhile now, and have had time to accquire many juicy plots for resale. The last thing we want is for the housing problems to be amplified and made even worse on Dynamis, and the solution to solve these problems isn't exactly clear cut, but a little GM moderation, or investigation of certain Discord servers would ice a lot of the illicit house sales.I find this is more of an issue on bigger servers like my mains server leviathan and other big servers where people have multiple homes like this when bigger servers have actual housing supply problems. but on dynamis oceania and the 4 recent EU servers where there are still a couple thousand houses available why complain about a ward when you can easily go to any ward and buy a house.
It's certainly commendable to try opening the GM's eyes to this, we can only hope for them to do just a little bit of investigation into it.

This thread is basically the FFXIV equivalent of provoking the mafia. Rofl.
Yeah i wish they provided more medium and larges in each ward. A lot of the medium and larges were bought up fast on dynamis when i was there before going back to primal. It's not as simple as "Just go buy a house." I agree with this. We definetely need more medium/Large houses in any new wards they put out there.
Sure do wonder why all these random players all decided to name their individual FCs <SHELL> on Marilith then and all buy houses in the same ward, its such a strange coincidence
I like this game and I'd like to see it fixed. Whether it is bots running FCs to sell it, or some people exploting housing with their seven millions alts, it's something shady that should be looked into, whether is it against TOS or not is the question for developers, if this gets to their eyes.
These "same name" FCs were always there on different servers for years. It's nothing new. Such a coincidence that nothing was done to them.
Exactly! That's what I mean! This is happening on a lot of servers, and it's pretty shady. Now if there was only some ingame GM that could look into that be and be like "Hmm.. this seems strange"
Personally I think that owning a couple houses is perfectly fine, owning like 30 of them is a little bit much, but ultimately it's not against TOS as long as they're not using them for RMT so what would the GMs even do? You can't take GM action against people who aren't breaking the rules.
I used to think that housing was impossible to get, but then I tried getting a small on my alt. If you're happy with a small, and you're willing to buy one anywhere, there are a lot of plots that you can easily get. My alt won plot 24 in the goblet (which if you're familiar with the layout of the Goblet, plot 24 is a god-tier plot) as the only one bidding on it.But you know, their friend really wants a house ! In shirogane !
Why would they settle for a house in goblet, mist, empy or LB ? Nah, they want a house in shiro, and a large too, because they deserve it, they aint gonna settle with some low tier goblet plot !
Something is telling me that they aint got a house because they are very selective of what plot they want.
Trying to get large/medium plots when you can is fine, that's how I got my god-tier Empyreum medium (p48), but a lot more people would be less upset with housing if they settled for something in the Goblet or Mist, then tried to get something bigger afterwards.
