Meanwhile, in Japan- the actual country that produces this game, we are coming into Obon (what Moonfire Faire is based on), where this is commonplace:
And/or masks commonly found for kids at festivals:

Moonfire Faire isn’t just a beach party, It’s also a promotion for the Adventurers’ Guild. Honestly I wish they would lean into either or both themes and have an actual fair, involving beach entertainment and/or preparation for adventure. However combat has been a reoccurring theme so the outfit does fit in.

What it even means? FFXIV is a worldwide product at this point, aimed to most countries.
Next thing u will tell me is McDonalds getting the Usa flag everywhere too...

It means a company is putting iconography/culture points that are specific to the country its workers live in, which everyone on the dev team would be familiar with. Obviously, the Japanese dev team is going to put in a lot of references to things that are popular to Japanese people. Because, again, these are things they are intimately familiar with.
It's not rocket science.
Should I also explain why the devs devoted time to include Mahjong instead of card games? Or why Lord of Verminion exists in the FFXIV? Or why we have a Gundam?
Or why a collab with GARO? Are people even aware of GARO outside of Japan?

Don't even have to go that far to find further Japan-centered content. Sticking to seasonals, we've also got Little Lady's Day, which just doesn't have much of an analogue in the worldwide market.

I'll probably use the outfit for Blue Mage. A simple punch, a flying kick, weapons out of nowhere, spontaneous explosions, other random absurdities. It's perfect.
Nothing like getting home doing a quick henshin then go bully roulettes with friends!

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I am looking forward to it.

When the western audience complains about the game being developed by Japanese developers and demand skimpy outfits over the japanese themed obon costume in which this entire event is based on.
Talk about entitled.
