There's plenty of housing except on overcrowded servers. Hence, now they're shifting to other QOL changes to housing, like adding more housing slots.

We still have a couple more Fanfests left to go. *hugs* EU is October I think and JP is January, so if they’re going to add anything, maybe we’ll hear about it then. Really hoping for Old Sharlayan… as long as they put a healthy amount of trees and water into it! lol If they make it pretty, it could clear out some of the other areas as people move.

I started during the end of Stormblood so I really don’t know how much time has gone between each of the housing districts. Pretty sure Shirogane was already there when I started. And we got Empyreum with Endwalker, but we had to rebuild the Firmament during Shadowbringers first. Unless the next housing district is somewhere that “needs” a reconstruction effort before housing can take place, I don’t see why it couldn’t come in 7.x somewhere. Maybe alongside the item limit increases.

Might just be wishful thinking on my part, but right now we only have a rough outline of Dawntrail. More information will be coming in the next two Fanfests, and I’m sure some other Live Letters as we approach the Summer 2024 release date.

They've delayed the plan to add more worlds. We don't know if it's still going to happen this year.

If they actually release a new DC for EU, they will either kill off light and chaos by removing a % of an already not very big population, or they will create materia 2.0, a completely empty wasteland that only house owners will move to, to then dc travel back to chaos or light, those are the only 2 options

in both cases it will be a failure and will reduce an already small population of people, I sincerely hope they dont go ahead with that, I really do.
