Can I ask why this would be the case? I understand why you would think a tank running into melee combat in cloth robes would be deadly, but a healer wearing a different potato sack would kill them?In my brain, wearing gear for roles that aren't the one you currently have equipped will kill you. It is lore-friendly. So, no to glamouring other job gears, and I say this with a heavy heart since I would kill to use the level 60 Astro gear set on my WHM. (the purple one). But, my character would die if she tried to wear it while having a WHM staff equipped. It's the way the world works, and I hope Yoshida agrees.
The various guild heads cast spells on certain clothing to ensure that it can only be worn by those practicing the correct arts.
Role glamour restrictions abolitionist! For more details and to help us spread the message:

This is by far the worst counter-argument to lifting glam restrictions we've had in history. Far worse than "class fantasy" and "immersion". In fact, it is so bad that I'll just assume you're trolling, because there is no way in hell someone would ever argue this for real.
This is the kind of argument even Yoshida would read and think to himself "Wow, that's a bottom of the barrel tier argument.."

That explanation can suffice for Job AF gears, sure, but not for role-based gear which is what everyone's on about. I don't think there's that many people saying 'I really wish I could use the DRK sets on my PLD', there's some, sure, but not as many as for example 'I wish I could use these Tank boots and gloves on my Healer for a more battle-mage aesthetic'. Given that Golbez is constantly referred to as a mage, yet wears an impressively heavy suit of armor, it stands to reason our characters should be allowed to as well, even if it's 'an illusion' as dictated by the lore of how the glamour system functions
Also, who's casting these protective warding spells on the MCH gear, given that we, the player character, are the current leading pioneer of the arts? Are you telling me Tataru rigged the hat to explode if we try to wear it as a Dancer?
So, let's say you save an innocent bystander in horrible weather. You offer them your coat to help shield them from the rain/cold/whatever. They die. That's...harsh.
