I am actually expecting this expansion to be a detour, "fun filler" expansion as a palette cleanser that then the 7.X patches actually begin the real set up for the new arc. This doesn't feel like the foundation for the next arc to me.

Nupe, apparently YoshiP stated in a few interviews post fanfest, this will be the start of a new story arc and they already have this story done for at least 2 more expansions. So our filler seems to definitely be Ew's patch story as its more or less going to conclude with 6.5 leaving 7.0 to start anew.

I couldn't disagree more. It was pleasantly surprised by how upbeat and different the tone and music of the trailer was from my expectations. I can't wait to hear the full song and see the full trailer.

I think there is a fair chance we will get more FF summons without the Eikon or Primal label in the future. Or not get any more summons as major MSQ fights. Diabolos is a summon and it wasn't treated like a primal.
And they don't need primals involved to have important MSQ trials anyway.

From an outsider's perspective, people are probably going to ask: "what the hell is this, what is the objective of this game?" I bet some might end up thinking that Dawntrail is a spin-off of FFXIV, much like how Mario Party was a spin-off of a regular Mario game or how DOA Beach Volleyball was a spin-off of the usual DOA fighting game.

The trailer clearly shows some sort of adventure going on, including a fight between the MC and a two-headed creature, so I'm not sure why anyone would think this is a FFXIV spinoff. From what we've heard of 7.0, it's going to be a much more light-hearted adventure than what we've been dealing with these past few expansions. I think the music fit fine, and really set the tone of "We're finally getting to have some fun after all the shit we've had to deal with."

If they wanted to go with 'Welcome to the filler beach expansion, have fun with your vacation." Then sure.

But that's what it is. We need to reset expectations so that people can get excited when 10.0 comes out in 2030. It's best to make expectations low right now so that we can all have fun in 2030. That's what matters, right? Who cares if this is filler when 10.0 is going to be the best expansion? What's the alternative, Shadowlands? Remember all the bad stuff like Bobby Kotick and the Cosby Suite? Yeah, you don't want to go there. Be grateful you have FFXIV. I myself can't wait for the new expansion to come out seven years from now. We're all hyped.

So true. The devs work so hard for so little, and they all deserve a rest. We can start the real story in 2025 or so, which will be the build-up to the new arc that will really start in 8.0. We can just play other games until then.

But yeah the first stream live viewing/watching clips of the in person version was definetly a bit out of crystal clear blue.

Though the more you listen to it(personally) the more the idea is tolerable.

The intro will always be alil off for me in a matter of taste.
like a not perfect but acceptable mix of electronic/surf/show. Artificial that generates a clear blue feel.

Then we got the changes in tone of the song and teaser trailer like the wind blowing/scream effects when around the mamoolja, or the Fight against the current leader gulool. which was more fitting-ish as a trailer transitional noise in the fight, rather than the part with the mamoolja with estinien.

But I guess near the end, it started to fit more as we reach the title image.

Lows are there so the highs are even higher. If everything is a high then nothing is. It's such a basic story telling technique. Like, have people who are genuinely surprised by this never read a book or watched a movie before? What are you supposed to do after literally saving the universe and killing the concept of despair? Save TWO universes? Go after Entropy next? lol

Also, it's just a trailer. We don't know where it'll lead anyway. Talk about an unpleasable crowd. The game has issues, but it's certainly not the choice of music or vibe.
