FFXIV fans are the most welcoming MMO fans unless...

I will say that it is important to remember that XIV did get its reputation for being friendly when it was much smaller than it is now. I will also point out that WoW, a game which has become known for having a cesspool of a community, did not start out that way. It's been so long since WoW had a generally friendly community though that most have forgotten.

I honestly can't complain about this game's community in-game. I have been playing for over a year (started around 2022's Hatchingtide) and I have had maybe 10 encounters with truly unpleasant people during that time. Having come from other MMOs, I'm still not used to it. Nobody screams at me to pull faster when I'm learning a new tank, nobody blames me for a wipe when I play a healer, nobody yells at me for not doing adequate DPS when I'm learning a new DPS job. That's a way better experience than any other MMO I have ever played.

The only unfriendly part of the community I have really encountered was the Novice Network. At least on Zodiark, it's 50% treated as German general chat, 50% high end raiders arguing with each other over endgame balancing. They are likely to tell off any newbie for asking a question or needing help, but that's about it.

IDK if Xbox users "don't buy games." They certainly don't buy FF games at the rate PlayStation users do, which was the original point. Not sure what your point was though. Even the Windows edition of FFXV outsold the Xbox One version despite releasing two years later. Xbox sales are mostly nonexistent outside the US, especially in Japan (on top of Japan's supposedly dwindling console sales in general).

The point was that despite Xbox not being the traditional platform for Final Fantasy games, the games don't sell too badly there.

Also, as a note, Xbox was only 200,000 copies behind PC for Final Fantasy XV, but if you bought Final Fantasy XV from the Windows store (as many people did after the game was on Game Pass), you received both the Xbox One and the PC edition of the game. It was cross-play between PC and Xbox, something Playstation didn't have. So, if a game was bought as 'Windows Edition' through the Windows store, it would have counted as a Windows sale, despite also giving the Xbox One version of the game. So, the numbers are broadly equal.

Remember, there are way more PCs out there than Xbox...PC is the most popular gaming format (after mobile)

I got screamed at and kicked from a group in a post-EW dungeon. And since ARR launch, I can count unpleasant incidents I can actually remember, that one included, on 1 hand. Most of that timeframe is pre-ShB. So, people will still tell you off now, and they do it now as much as they did pre-shb, in my experience. People are still generally nice about anything constructive, or neutral with just a "tank stance" reminder or something. They do talk less, in general, but that's relative and I noticed that with SB, not ShB.

Even if the Xbox players were toxic ( we know they arent) We have perhaps one of the strongest TOS out of most MMOs to where that toxicity will not last long or tolerated. Most of us will welcome them with open arms.

Well, l played call of duty an league of legends before l started playing this. Reddit's downvotes can be cancer, But At least it isn't a complete cesspool where people constantly tell you how you are a failed abortion and need to commit suicide.

1. Console Wars are dumb. At one point I had a Playstation and an Xbox side by side and it was great. I don't have a PS4 anymore though, so I haven't played XIV in like 3 years. I'm back now, in anticipation of Xbox release. (Plus I have a gaming pc now, and I did not have one 3 years ago).

2. Looking at it from the outside. XIV's community is an echo chamber of "we're the best, most awesomest most kind people in the history of everything and everyone else is a filthy peasant that I don't want sullying my precious game." The problem, of course, being that people inside the XIV echo chamber absoutely cannot seem themselves, the way everyone else sees them.

Toxic, cult-like, weird, judgemental, overtly mean to anyone who doesn't worship this game.

as long as one can avoid these parts of the community, the game itself is excellent in most meaningful ways, imo anyway.

My advice is if you are on Twitter or any other social media, mute/block all accounts you catch calling other people Xbots/Sony Ponies. I do this so I haven't run into a single person angry about 14 coming to Xbox. Life is a lot more pleasant when you aren't watching grown adults having slap fights over which console is better.
