SE just needs to tread carefully with how they approach Xbox. If the game ends up on GamePass while everyone else has to pay for it - that's an issue.

I hope SE didn't have to make too many concessions to Microsoft to make this happen. Also, I seriously believe folks are underestimating the influx of players the Xbox base will bring. Xbox folks love to complain about not having certain games, get them, then don't play them.

The game + expansions being on Game Pass isn't an issue. All Square-Enix games that have come to Xbox recently have launched straight to Xbox (Dragon Quest, Final Fantasies, Octopath Traveler), so it is likely to happen. Obviously, the sub wouldn't be included with Game Pass. However, I can see a Game Pass perk of one free month for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, like many MMOs have received. Maybe a free mount or costume or something that's Xbox-exclusive (similar to the PSO2 offers)

Square Enix seems to love Game Pass, so they'll be doing something with it. Even if they lose the sale of the game + expansions, they could reel in people with the monthly sub on GP.

The beta will be 100% free to play on Game Pass for 2 months, though.

I think this was brought up in the past.

1. Console exclusives are a sensitive matter, especially when it involves PlayStation games getting ported to Xbox/Nintendo consoles because the inverse never happens. Naturally, drama ensues.

2. If you made a venn diagram of Xbox fans and FF fans, there would be about 10 people in the middle. FFXIII + XV were basically a non factor on the Xbox, and the former was a technologically inferior port that had to be put on 2 discs. The gap is probably even wider for this game since people are already playing it on PC. It's possible FFXI fared better on the 360 than on the PS2, but both of those were shut down ages ago.

I'm often reminded of that one FFXIII goof video made by that guy from SA.

Why do people keep making stuff up?

20% of all copies of Final Fantasy XV sold on Xbox. That's not bad considering the player base of Xbox One was smaller AND wasn't the traditional format for Final Fantasy.

It isn't a negligible amount. It is a few million copies (plus, more got into the game through Game Pass a couple of years later, and we know being on GP increases game sales)

Final Fantasy XIII sales on the Xbox 360 weren't even that far behind PS3. By the end of the first year, Xbox 360 had sold about 50% of the copies of Playstation 3 which, again, isn't bad considering Xbox 360 was receiving a game it wasn't traditionally known for.

Some weird crap been thrown around about Xbox recently, most of it lies i.e. 'Xbox players don't buy games' (truth: games sell more frequently once added to Game Pass, and all developers report they make more cash from GP than not being on GP)

Also, as a note, Xbox One onwards is now the best place to play Final Fantasy XIII and beyond. Microsoft worked with Square Enix to make all the cutscenes full 4K, and vastly upscaled the rest of the game. Square Enix wouldn't have done that if the 'sales were negligible'.

I don't know the sale for FFXI, though. I assume 360 did outsell PS2 here? But, that is because the HDD was not released in Europe, so the only way to play FFXI on console in Europe (short of importing an NTSC one) was to play on 360.

Nope he didn't return, and yea his minority of fans were a bit annoying, but catching his streams, you would always see him put them in their place cause despite Asmon being well..Asmon, he does really LOVE MMOs and wants nothing more than for them to succeed, and he did love the game, but he cited that whenever he played, lots of people in-game that he blatantly didn't know would actively follow him, spoil the story, try to join his dungeon runs and ruin his experience, eventually pushing him off the game.

It's like I always say, this game has the most passive aggressive community I have ever seen in a game, you just have to notice it at the right time, cause most of the time, it will be covered up under the guise of "We are the friendliest"

I've seen my fair share of toxic, passive aggressive and the "whiteknighting" or whatever people here call it but I still overall say the majority is welcoming and friendly. But we are all humans so ofc there will be some bad apples.

No, not quite. Not at all. What they do is they'll start a thread about UBlock Origin filters to erase you from existence. They won't see the block message at all.

But here is the catch. They can't help it. They remove you from those filters after a day or so and take you off from their block list. Why? Because they are simps and they simply must defend Square Enix's honor. To do that they need to report you. Ah, how can they coordinate mass reports on you if they can't see you?

You see the contradiction here, no? Which is why they have never actually blocked anyone for long and continue posting in the threads made by people they "blocked" weeks after they claimed they use the filters, or start new threads copying them. Because they can't continue the mass report campaign if they actually followed through. Oh but that will be too humiliating if they admitted they unblocked you. So they'll keep talking about how they blocked you over and over again. Sadly, the truth is more sinister, what they're doing is reporting you over and over again. Because let's call them what they are: bullies.

Quite correct. The simps on the forums are the unfriendliest personalities on the forums. They churn out endless passive aggressive posts at you, claim they're in the majority (despite, lately, getting mostly 0 likes on their posts), and mass report you.

There are a lot of things you can do to be canceled by certain elements of the Twitter community such as:

1) Being a consumer of a product or company they do not like
2) Skipping cutscenes
3) Criticizing creepy behavior
4) Criticizing something they like in FFXIV
5) Wanting gender specific clothing and/or hairstyles
6) Breathing
