The definition of "optional" is unclear.

Currently, the categories of items are...

• Veteran rewards, seasonal events or mogstation (goes into Armoire).
• Purchasable from Calamity Salvager (quest rewards, can't go into Armoire).
• Items you can get again (craftable gear, tomestone gear and duty loot).

But most of that could be described as optional. So do they just simply mean all gear and that the Glamour Dresser is almost pointless beside storing dye information, or what?

Most of the time they use optional items it refers to things you can buy from the Mog station. Which has been something people have asked to be able to do for years. Right next to other JSE being storable into the armoire. There are some quest rewards that can be put in there. For me even if it was just quest reward outfits it would still be a win. I'm just going with what the devs themselves tend to label as optional as the most likely items.
