Glad to see a thread like this! I'm curious to see everyone's different theories.

Mine is pretty simple: the Ninja Turtles are green, so I think it's gonna be Green Mage.

I thought green mage too but, the devs are moving away from dots. So I don’t think they will bring a huge support oriented caster job like green mage into the mix. I mean why not just use teenage mutant ninja turtles without the mayhem? To throw us off? Keep us guessing? Maybe. I’m gonna stick with Shaman being the new original caster dps.

All I'll say is that I wouldn't get too fixated on what the mechanics of the class are going to be based on previous FF games. Red Mage plays wildly differently in FF11 compared to FF14, as do plenty of other classes like DRK and NIN. The class is really just an aesthetic skin that they can map whatever gameplay they want to. And Green Mages haven't been in many games so they've got a lot of breadth to make them do whatever they want them to do.

What if they actually made Green Mage a legit support job with a plethora of buffs for party members
