If you want posters to share their own hype, you would have left content creators out of it altogether and definitely wouldn't have named specific content creators or linked some of their videos.

Am I looking forward to FanFest tomorrow? Yes.

Am I mindlessly enthusiastic about it? Nope.

I want to see what they're planning to do with the game come 7.0. While I don't agree with much of the negativity that's been spread around here lately and I'm still happy with the game overall, I do have my areas of interest where I see a need for improvement (housing at the top) and I'm curious if anything informative will be said.

I used to watch Quazii a lot since he was on JP with us before Materia released, its sad to see him so visibly upset playing WoW again because XIV doesn't support the endgame enough to keep players interested.

Not every game needs to be about endgame. That's part of where WoW went wrong. There was too much focus on endgame raiding, then Mythic+, and the rest of the game suffered for it.

Correct. WoW threw away its story for the endgame, and people quit.

XIV threw away its endgame for story, and people quit.

There is a middleground in there that works for everyone, neither game is perfect and neither game ever will be, but what they can do is strive to be better.

I think most content creators are hyped for fanfest because it gives them something to finally milk for reactionary content from this game. Zepla herself admitted that she was moving onto other games in her channel because it was just tiresome sticking to this dry ass game 24/7. Last time I scrolled past her channel on Twitch, she was getting really into WoW. Then you look at other XIV streamers like Xenos who fully admits that he milks community drama for content because there's nothing else. Fanfest represents at least dozens of videos worth of reaction-content for these people, and they make money producing that garbage, which is why Zepla's in that video looking like a kid on Christmas over what ultimately amounts to a multiple-day advertising event to anyone who's not using it to enrich themselves. Hell, I was going to say SE probably sponsored her trip, until I watched a couple of minutes in and found out she had to get her ticket from another streamer. So on top of everything else, SE is literally so bad at cultivating a streamer audience that they can't even get passes to the few people willing to promote them on social media, lmao.

But yeah I can 100% understand why streamers who haven't given a shit about this game in months are suddenly excited for fanfest. They are going to make money off of this. And there's not one fanfest, or even two. There're three. That's so much content for them to milk! If you personally are excited for fanfest, by all means, more power to you! I don't understand you, but I won't shit on you for it. But be wary of streamers beaming over this event like it's Christmas. It's all just business for them. They're very transparent about it too. You make yourself look silly pointing to streamer enthusiasm and then wondering why we're not as excited as they are. Like, yeah, I would be thrilled for fanfest too if I could milk it for reaction content and pull in thousands of dollars for doing nothing, lmao.

Still nobody cares about streamers and no one cares about Zepla's opinion. FFXIV is one of the very few games in which the majority actually doesnt care about "muh streamer thinks the game sucks so i'll quit too" or the opposite, which is good, lets keep it that way.

The doomposters cared when she was down on the game. The hypeposters care when she's hyped about the game. You may not care. You may only care when they agree with you. But either way, clearly a lot of people care. So "nobody cares" is a lie. Perhaps you should stop lying? Something people have to learn somewhere between being a child and being a mature adult - just because you say something over and over doesn't make it true, no matter how much you want it to be true. Saying nobody cares doesn't make it true. Tons of people very clearly care.

Don't let the doomposters get to you. Some people have decided they don't like the game and/or it won't be what they want it to be/like, so they're trying to make everyone one else down on it and/or quit to validate their own views. What makes the maddest is when there are people legitimately enjoying the game. They can't stand that, so they attack and derail any positive threads and positive posters. All it means is you aren't validating them and they're not mature enough to realize different people like different things and be happy for you.

It was strongly implied the OP was hyped about fanfest and wanted to talk and engage with people who also are hyped about it. I didn't see any "implication" that it was just to talk about creator opinions, especially in lieu of anything else.

Also there's no "content creators OR own hype" rule. A thread can be both. Content creators being hypey and normal people sharing their own hype make sense in a hype thread. I'm honestly really confused about how you reached your conclusions.

Howso? Stormpeaks has a bad habit of saying what she WANTS to be true as if that makes it true, even if it's a lie.

Moreover, most of her points equally apply to her. No one asked her her position on this thread, yet she felt inclined to post it anyway, yet she thinks that's a proper dig at people saying things she doesn't want to hear to shut them down or throw a wet blanket on their threads. This thread took a weird turn, albeit probably deliberate on some people's parts.

I'm not saying you guys should bandwagon the streamers... I don't know why the conversation devolved that way? I was posting those links b/c the vids were fun, exemplified my own excitement, and (here's the kicker) thought the mutual sharing of vids talking about fanfest could be a jumping off point for conversation and shared excitement about fanfest.

Of course, that would involve other people actually sharing their own stuff or talking about fanfest, or at least responding to what I linked, which a grand total of two/three people have. (And TYFP! to them.) Everyone else seems to either just wanna be a wet blanket, or thinks I'm looking to install a content creator as my new cult leader or something. Lotsa weird "don't trust them" comments when I literally wasn't trusting anyone with anything?

Sharing fanworks and content is part of how fandom works, in my experience. And we FF14 players are, at least loosely, a fandom for FF14 (and many for FF more generally), far as I knew.
