7.0 copium has got to stop

While yes the copium is there, I'm actually a bit curious what they have to give us at the FanFest. If next expansion doesn't do anything exciting, then people will bail. We finished a 5-expansion arc(ARR/HW/StB/ShB/EW) and while not every expansion was a banger like ShB and HW, it still delivered on what their story was. Now, post-6.0 story is a brand new one that they're writing and there are still questions left unanswered as to what the next expansion will be called or even what content we'll be seeing in 6.5/.55 leading up to the new expac.

To sum it up, we need more information about what Yoshida's team is doing - and if ya'll are going to say "But XVI has affected XIV!" that hasn't been the case. Sure, this patch has been crap and received very negatively by the community - but it's already run its course and they aren't going to reverse direction until next expansion. If anything, yelling here on the forums is akin to yelling in an echo chamber unless a lot of people hop on the bandwagon for it.

They had plans for an additional Datacenter, as per their Regarding the Expansion of FFXIV's Operations lodestone post.

In the first phase of the expansion, scheduled for July 2022, a total of four new Worlds will be added, two under each of the logical data centers presently housed in the European Data Center. In the second phase, one new logical data center will be established and eight new Worlds will be added under it, resulting in a three-logical-DC configuration of 8:8:8. The aforementioned semiconductor shortage requires we carry out this upgrade in two stages, and we ask for your understanding and patience as we continue making preparations.

What’s more, in anticipation of further expansion, we are working to secure floor space for a fourth logical data center. Preparations are also being made in the event the addition of this logical data center is needed earlier than anticipated.

My guess is they just haven't remotely maintained as many player numbers as they were expecting, and probably misattributed the reason why there was a massive influx. With an additional, and entirely new data center under current numbers, we'll essentially just have unnecessary servers, given our current situation in EU with us always skirting on 3-4 servers on preferred status.

It is also weird that a RMT guy wants to infect the game with Doom and gloom...especially because this very game is what makes them Money......
Never made sense to keep paying to play a game just to constantly hate on it in the 1st place. Logic around here has always been lacking though....

Considering how long it took to implement Dynamis and Materia, and with how EU was always lowest on priority list, I wouldn't doubt it's just being delayed until 7.0 launch too (or close to that).

Let me just spoil the ending for all of you: FF14 is going to start failing, slowly, Square Enix is going to put this on maintenance mode in like 8.0 or 9.0 or something, maybe they'll try to revitalize it but fail.

Something I can worry about in 4 to 6 years I guess.

Seriously, I don't even know where people get the idea that 7.0 is going to fix or even partially fix the problems with this game, it's not just one or two people, it's like the majority of the playerbase.

If you don't like the game at all, unironically save yourself the money and quit now because at this point this game is irredeemable. There's literally no point in waiting for 7.0 to fix anything. Spoiler: they won't. Only reason to stick to this game is for secondary, non-game purposes.

CBU3 has like literally no idea how to make interesting progression systems, there is not a single exploratory content or horizontal content that succeeded with the entire playerbase. They just don't know how. They also fired some devs and leads who disagreed with the vision of the game (rumor), clearly they're not open to feedback either. So don't huff the copium really, no need to wait for 7.0. It's already over.

7.0 Is supposed to have major updates for the game that completely overhaul everything. I.e. the graphical update. Its not unreasonable to assume that things won't be fixed up in other ways. Such as the character creator.

Considering how barren the EW post patches have been for most part and how safe they have played with changes, there's 2 options. Either they have poured a lot of their dev resources to 7.0 and it shows or they have mismanaged it and ignored player feedback to the point it will be a weird flop.

Then again, if it fizzles out, maybe they will close the shop and finally make a new MMO instead.
